...I thought this was some 3rd world country duty from the UK.

You're in the United States...

So... shoot 'em if they run away? My, how much you could get away with in the military.

Now... of the 500,000 prisoners... ??? I wouldn't, would you?

you whole spiel about MPs being sadists and ultraviolent and other such hippie statements you said are, well, comical to say the least.

*snip*
The ones that go AWOL because they think they can, deserve to be shot for being fucking pussies and trying to ditch their service in the first place. Don't sign if you can't hang with the consequences, of which can potentially be numerous, including death. ESPECIALLY if you sign during a time of war.

i agree with the italicized part...but dude, chill out.

yeah...I think there are other types that deserve to be shot. ;)

Where did this come from?

From my real life experiences. Do you have a problem with that?

You need a nap!

You need a dose of reality. Have you ever been more than 20 miles from home or had someone scoping your ass from 300 yards? I have.

When you enter the military, you know the obligation to perform your duty, and take full responsibility for anything wrong, and you have signed your life away to such a point that you are essentially on lease to yourself until your contract is up. We all know this.

I realize the post is probably about your service from awhile ago and not recently, judging by the last line. Just venting is all.

You're 13 years old aren't you? I sincerely hope you are because you can't express yourself in a coherent way, let alone do you know a goddam thing about our past 50 years of history.

I had to look up Fort MacArthur.

That was before my time, but I'm a First Sergeant, now. There's a shit load of articles under the UCMJ that you could be charged under.

Let's see...

Article 91?Insubordinate conduct toward warrant officer, noncommissioned
officer, or petty officer

Article 92?Failure to obey order or regulation

Article 96?Releasing prisoner without proper authority

Article 98?Noncompliance with procedural rules

Article 134?(Drinking liquor with prisoner)

But that's just me being a fucking smart-ass, petty and vindictive First Sergeant.

Yes, you've made that obviously clear.

I would expect nothing less from a mod of 'love and relationships'. Everything is all hunky dory if you can just face your inner feelings. :)

The military doesn't 'fire' you, they can give you discharges other than honorable, though. Mine is on the honorable side.

We can still fire someone's ass up, though. Public humiliation through 'retraining' is still acceptable. This would happen before someone was discharged.

If it was only one day, I'd say he was fired.

Judging by his previous comment to me, I'm guessing he forgot about the whole "don't ask, don't tell" rule, and he got caught "telling".

You really are 12 years old, aren't you? In VN there was no 'don't ask, don't tell'. Everybody joined or got drafted without question.

How do you feel now, you ignorant doofus?

I think you would be hard pressed to find any charges that would stick from the VN era. :p

Back in the day it wasn't so nice, neat and orderly. You were dumped in a strange land and prayed to whatever that you made it to the end of the day, never mind the next. When the chances of dying or worse (and there's worse) are as great as they were, no one got out the regs for such things.

I'm fine, man. Just trying to set some of the igorant 'me at all costs' generation' straight. They don't have a clue.

For example, do you know how easy it is to be at the giving end of friendly fire? I do. Eat that and try to digest.

I agree. They wouldn't stick, but it'd give the prosecutor something to do during their down time. The rule of law still applies in the U.S., though.

People go AWOL for a multitude of reasons, few of which require more than a loss of pay or grade reduction.

Heh, heh, my number 1 supporters throughout my short military career were all the first tops. don't know why, but even when I stole the CO's jeep and fridge the top backed me up.
