I just wish they werrent pricks and force me to do it too. I dont give a crap about lent.. i dont even know what it is.. so why should i have to follow along. Btw, if someone does swear, they have to put a quarter into a jar in the office. My job gets pretty damn stressful, so its very tough to not swear.
 
ok... well they consider a lot of words swearing... i said damnit 3 times in about 30 seconds.... it could be costing me about 5 bucks a day or more... and i have no desire to stop completely...

BTW: For those who don't know, "lent" is another one of those f*cking useless religious "holy months" like Islam's Ramadan.
 
For those still wondering WTH lent is all about, it's the 40 days before Easter where one is supposed to fast and abstain from certain foods. I don't know anyone who follows that. However, one of the salutary customs is to give up something one enjoys for Lent, be it smoking, alcohol, drugs, sugar, etc.. I don't see how swearing fits into that. It's BS.

If you had been there a while, then make an issue of it, but if it's less than a year, you're f-cked man 🙂 I think it's gotta be against some statute of some sort, unless your office has a policy against disruptive behavior like that anyway... If it really does bug you, talk to HR.
 
Either get another job, try discussing religion and stuff with them, or live with it.

Or take a tape with a lot of cursing on it, put it in a hidden place in the building somewhere, hooked up to the com system, and put it on continuous play. Let's see how long it will take them to tear the place apart 😉

Seriously, though... if you work in the public sector, you should probably make a stink about this. But if you're in the private sector, you're screwed!
 
i agree with dpk777. swearing is overrated.

...but that doesn't mean you can't raid the quarter jar and hit the vernding machines. 😉
 
we tried a swear jar once at my old job for about a week but a few of us nearly had to deposit our paychecks directly into the jar 😉

i gave up not doing stuff for lent. so now i am going to drink, smoke, and swear up a storm. That sucks though bob...i know i WOULDN'T be able to handle that. sometimes you just need to yell out WTF!
