does anyone have any clue why dell put a serial port on the 600m? i can sorta understand the parallel port, but a serial port? you could fit 4 usb ports where that thing is.

it is really frustrating having to unplug my printer to plug in my hard drive or my game controller. i suppose i could get a hub, but that would be admitting defeat.

Because USB printers(or moreso their drivers) lick my hairy beanbag. USB printers = tech support NIGHTMARE. Plus USB printers don't work well on legacy applications or some terminal & remote control applications. There is a plethora of business and college users that hook printers directly up to their laptops.

My IBM T42p has plenty ;)

what is that firegl ?

I don't know but I don't care either. If I had the choice, I'd get a less power-consuming video card as I won't be playing any games or anything.

i play games, but i also like portability. the 600m is the right size, but the graphics horsepower is starting to get a little low. if this computer were any smaller it'd lose out while fighting my law books.
