does anyone have any clue why dell put a serial port on the 600m? i can sorta understand the parallel port, but a serial port? you could fit 4 usb ports where that thing is.

it is really frustrating having to unplug my printer to plug in my hard drive or my game controller. i suppose i could get a hub, but that would be admitting defeat.

yeah it is stupid

tell me again . . . WHY do they have parallel ports on laptops?

i've never used the one on mine . . .

i've used the s-video and vga and everything else . . . just not that

btw, 3 USB here on HP pavilion ze5200

Fsck the serial port...gimme back a PS/2 port so I can use a normal keyboard when I want.

Use up the pcmcia slot with a USB card.

and have something sticking out the side waiting to get smashed? i think not.

i have a hub at home 😱

Because USB printers(or moreso their drivers) lick my hairy beanbag. USB printers = tech support NIGHTMARE. Plus USB printers don't work well on legacy applications or some terminal & remote control applications. There is a plethora of business and college users that hook printers directly up to their laptops.

My IBM T42p has plenty 😉

what is that firegl ?

I don't know but I don't care either. If I had the choice, I'd get a less power-consuming video card as I won't be playing any games or anything.

i play games, but i also like portability. the 600m is the right size, but the graphics horsepower is starting to get a little low. if this computer were any smaller it'd lose out while fighting my law books.

I don't think our 600ms have serial ports... maybe they do and I just don't remember...
