Wow.. so ugly.

1) Can't play mp3s.

2) Display looks too small to display cd text

3) Display color looks like it should be on a $45 Radio Shack special.

2 thumbs down.

1.) yea, i got a lot of mp3's but its just as easy to make a compilation of .Wav's

2) dont think it can

3) it can be changed to red also.

4) its a Denoford. denon head unit, rebadged as a rockford fosgate for distribution in the U.S.

VERY nice. I've got the same HU (haven't installed it yet but tried it in a friend's system and he said the sound was better than the Alpine and Eclipse units he previously had). I think they retailed for $1800 when they first came out in Japan. You lose features like MP3 playback but the sound quality is AWESOME.

OH! Then good deal🙂

Seems a bit light on features for what you're paying...

No anti-theft, but thieves love flashy looking head units (which that one is)
No MP3 playback
No remote
Very small, limited display
Only 2 sets of preouts - which sucks, because there's no built in amplification

It is probably an incredible sounding unit, but unless you're putting the sound through incredible sounding speakers (which I'm willing to bet you're not going to be) the additional sound quality offered by this HU will be lost. You can do a lot better for $300, IMO.

That said, I currently have a Rockford deck that I got a couple years ago for $260. Mine has 3 sets of preouts, MP3 playback, full copper chassis, 45Wx4 built in output, a remote, and a flip down, removable face.

For the price, this unit can't be beat in terms of sound quality. This unit helped me shave off about $700 of the cost of my future sound system (trying to keep the cost under $7000-$8000). This unit isn't a good choice for casual listeners but is a steal for those with sound quality in mind.

fugly and doesnt play mp3s.. can't beat an mp3 cd with about 300 songs compared to a CD with about 20 at most.

This unit is for audiophile. So, degraded sound source like MP3 is never a consideration for the market where this unit targetted.

It seems to be very common that here in US people are more about feature and cheap price, while in Japan people willing to pay more for the quality.

This thread is obviously polarized into two groups...

-People who realize that this rebadged Denon in one of the best source units ever created for use in a vehicle
-People who do not, and wonder where all of the bling features and fancy buttons are

The funny part is he stated it was made by Denon in one of the posts. I jumped from one side to the other after reading that😛
