that really sucks you have to wait to get your guns. i suppose i can see some validity in that so that background checks can process and whatnot, but i really dont get why this is the case for shotguns. i could understand for assault weapons and handguns only...thats a weird law.

gun shows are cool as hell. for 6 bux you get access to all kinds of shit. i don't know why these people had security systems on their gun racks...only a moron would steal from someone selling fully-auto assault rifles O_O

i love our country. a good, of age, law abiding, non-crazy, legal citizen can walk into a gun show and purchase a defense weapon with pretty much no hassle. this is a reason why we are free.

What's the big deal... in the middle east they issue you an AK as soon as your born. 😛

7.62x39 is ballistically very similar to .30-30 which has been used to hunt deer for a long time.

heh...I own that Remington. I was going to by a Ruger 10/22 but a good deal on the Rem landed in my lap. It is a good little gun.

I probably won't be modifying it much aside from a lighter trigger, so the current remington $20 rebate made the choice for me.

I think there was an article on black gun hunting in guns and ammo recently and at least in california, the x39 isn't recommended on pigs over 90lbs. Only under.

9mm is plenty powerful for a handgun. Plus you probably have a double stack magazine, so just keep shooting if the first one doesn't take them down! Ok that's not the best argument, but really, the term "stopping power" is kind of a misnomer. Nothing blows the guy back into a wall like in the movies when you shoot them.

Except for 10mm Auto, which basically vaporizes the target 😉
Hey, if it's good enough for Rainbow Six, it's good enough for everybody. I bet that round guarantees headshots.

of all the guns out there, what made you pick that one?

I don't want to knock your choice because getting more (responsible) gun owners out there is great, but man that thing looks really well used (not to mention ugly as sin).

Did you know about their quality before you bought it? I had never heard of them until now and I thought I had seen a lot of guns.

I never been a 9mm fan. I don't like their specs and the fan boy/wannabe cops killed it for me. Prefer .45acp or .40S&W. I hope to have a .45 Tactical XD by the end of the year. It will be a great replacement for my aging 1911A1.

thats what i was thinking. its only a single stack mag, but i could always get a bigger clip. but i'm not worried about having to use it on a human, again, just mainly for target.

well i think looks are subjective. you might not like it, but i think it looks totally bad ass 😛
but, it is a little used, and needs a good cleaning. the reason i bought it is because it was a good price, other vendors other than the one i bought it from said good things about it, and the vendor selling it to me said he used them in competition and liked them. it also had all the features i wanted, it has a half cock, the slide is about 1/2 the size of other slides so the recoil is very very mild, it has ambidextrous safety, and extended slide release (my thumbs are short), and it fit my hand almost perfectly.

i've never been a big fan of the 9mm either because i'de been using one my whole life. however, when i thought longer about my needs, it just seemed to fit. the gun was the right price, ammo is dirt cheap, and it is a perfect learning gun. i really wanted a .45 acp, but the guns were expensive, ammo is a little more, and just not as practical for a beginner. i also seemed to have a lot of problems with the size of the guns. i have giant ass hands, but my thumbs are a little short. on most .40s&w and .45acp i could not get my thumb up to the slide release. i know this could be fixed with a new grip, but there were other factors.

well, i took the gun shooting today. i ran about 90 rounds through it and didn't have a single problem. no jams (even on cheap bullets), and no problems i could see. the recoil is extremely light and it is easy to hit what I'm aiming for. i'm liking this gun more and more because it fits my hand so perfectly. i need to find myself a good local shooting range and hone my skills.

first you need to know what you are talking about. you don't see people selling "fully-auto assault" rifles at a gun show - first they are machine guns and people can only buy the pre 1986 models, that is why a real f/a, M16 will run you $15K, even a real mac10 will run you $4-$5K - supply and demand.

the only people that can buy new machine guns are LEO, certain dealers and obviously the military, not your or I regardless of what state you live in as it is not a state law, it is federal.

please, if you are going to talk about guns do so in an educated manner.

if i remember correctly, ballistically ~ = to a 30-30, you would just need the 5rnd mag. but check to verify my info, it has been a long time since i looked at ballistics sheets.

what are you hunting?

to help the cause - JPFO and no you don't have to be jewish, they seem to be leaner and meaner than the NRA and not making side deals. plus, $40 for 2yrs...not a bad investment 🙂

the fact that people don't know the difference between full auto and semi auto.... fully-auto - they are not being sold at gun shows - too much $$$$, too specialized market....and once a rifle is full auto, it is considered a machine gun, thought it was pretty well spelled out

Great! Now you can protect yourself against....what exactly?

i never said it was mainly for protection. i bought it for target practice because it's fun to me. however, i now the have added bonus of home protection should it ever be invaded and after i get my concealed carry i can protect myself on the go. i highly doubt ill ever need to protect my home since i live in a gated community in a nicer part of town, but you never know, anything can happen. i dont really plan on using my concealed carry once i get it because ill be on campus so much, but there may be a time when ill bring it with me to other activities and it may become life saving. again, most likely will never happen...but some famous person who i can remember said: "hope for the best, plan for the worst"...i dont hope i ever have to point the muzzle at another human...but if i have to i will.

i hate to sound so damned redneck, conservative, republican, or whatever..since i'm don't really fall into those categories...but people who are pro gun controller, i feel, are very anti-American and pro communism. our right to bear arms is extremely important. maybe not so much as freedom of speech and religion, but it is high up on the scale. i believe it is one of the reasons our country has stayed free and as long as it stays that way we will be. if we ever needed to revolt against our government or needed to protect ourselves in the event of homeland invasion we would be able to. the reason i think gun control people are commies is because thats what every single communist country has done before it turned communist. the officials found ways to take guns away from the public. once the government is the only one with guns, power reigns and the people become almost helpless. it is sad that it comes to this sometimes and that we cant trust officials, but its true. hopefully Americans will continue to realize this BS beforehand and quickly impeach those officials.

however, i think that gun safety is of the utmost importance. too many stupid accidents are caused by people not understanding the danger of guns and not acting properly around them. i was raised around guns and always taught proper gun control by my dad (retired military) and gun classes. the only other atrocities that can be accounted for by guns are criminal acts and its kind of hard to pass laws against people who dont abide laws in the first place...

anywho...thats my gun control rant. i love you America 😀!

:Q

Wow.

He is talking about the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the 1986 Import Ban.

It's hard to systematically steal from people if you don't have a monopoly on force.

In Florida, you need only be 18. I know, because I live here too.

you don't have to be such a dick. excuse me, let me make that correction. i think anyone who tries to steal something from someone with a semi-auto assault rifle is a moron. happy?

Try the Florida State Police website first.

In his case he should talk to the local Escambia County Sheriff's office, they will enforce the state and county laws in his area. And then after you have communicated with them, sign up for safety course with some practice time on a rental before he goes out and buys his own. Know what you are doing before you ever do it. The FDLE should also be more helpful than the Highway Patrol aka FHP.
