My new video card...EVGA 8800GTS 320MB

I am so excited to finally get my 8800GTS 320MB....😀
This is my first ever high-end video card....😀

I have a few questions now...for starters...

1) What do I use to control my fan?
2) What do I use to display my temps?
3) What do I use to overclock it?

1. Riva tuner works for me
2. nvidia has a built in tempurature monitoring program built into the nvidia control panel.
3. Riva tuner works for me. ATI Tool is good for scanning for artifacts and running it while monitoring temperatures.

coolbits I think still works right? I havent updated my video drivers in almost a year.

google coolbits for over clock. Just a reg hack so you can over clock also using the Nvidia control panel.

And congrads on your purchase!

I actually like to use ati tool to oc my 8800 gts, it works in vista as well. For a first time OC I would use ATI tool since its very simple and will allow you to test your cooling as you OC very easily. If you are a power user go ahead and use rivatuner. I am not a big fan of Ntune tho, maybe its just me, but I think that stuff sucks big time.

I installed nTune and I too think that it sucks.

I will be going ahead with trying Riva Tuner.
What version of ATI Tool should I use in Vista?

BTW...I'm not too sure about my load temps yet but I'm idle at 57C...How good is that?

PS: Thanks for the congrats Regs!!

Idle 57c is fine, that's about what I get with my 640MB in a case with low speed fans. My load is around 75-76c after a few hours of gaming.

I use Rivatuner and ATI Tool (I use ATI Tool to scan for artifacts).

Just use the latest versions and google for tutorials on how to use them. Ntune lacks features.

i use rivatuner for all 3 😛 for the temp u can set it so it shows in a corner in-game just to check the load temp

Rivatuner when I last looked at it was a very unfriendly program. ATiTool is so effective and much easier to deal with it's a shame the best feature of the product - dynamic fan control via GPU temperature isn't available for NVidia cards. 🙁

Yeah, me too. Rivatuner's awesome. I disables the throttling on my card and forced 3d performance.

I'm still in the phase of testing my maximum overclock.

How do I do this?

Google Rivatuner and Statistics server or a variation of those words.

Rivatuner uses something called a statistics server to show your temps.

I just got the same card and was about to start a post asking how to OC it, then I saw this post.

I use ATI TOOL to overclock and riva tuner for fan control/temperature monitoring. I got my maximum of 630/2000 this morning and benchmarks went great. There are some instances that the card will do 700mhz core. I tried that this morning, no such luck.

some people got lucky and have a very high clocking card. 700mhz!

Not with stock cooling.

theres a list

If I could get 650 stable I would, I am not temperature limited.

Yeah, I just pushed my GTX to 600 and 2000, and the temperatures barely changed. I'm pretty sure she can go a bit more... 🙂

LMAO, do you see that guys temps in the screenshot?

Thank you, there is in fact one person, who got 700mhz on air cooling (that might last a week).

73c is very good since the top for 8 series is 92c
