what to do now?

first thing i did when i got this card was fire up a game!

then i used rivatuner to do the rest. thing oc's like a beast with stock cooling. i ran 690 perfectly stable for the first week i got the card. and i play many hours a week.

i lowered it cause it was around the max stable oc i got and i didnt feel like pushin my stuff to the limits.

fyi sustained 76c under load is not too high.

A spinning cube for 2 minutes is not going to be peak temps...

can you quote me where i said that i use ati tray tools to get my temps? or that i consider a sustained load to be 2 minutes with tray tools?

you said 'sustained load at 73 is very very high'

that is quite simply very very wrong.

i consider sustained load as an hour+ of gameplay. i play a game, and i have riva tuner log my temps and i can check them afterwards during hours of gameplay. even comes in a nice graph form.

ive had 6 hour 2142 sessions on weekends. my temps are in the mid to upper mid 70's. again, nothing to be concerned about with these cards.

and again, 76 under sustained load (which i am considering a solid period of gaming), is nothing to be concerned about.

at all.

what u said was wrong to be concerned about those temps.

I was a little worried about hijacking this thread but my questions are as related as the rest of what's being presented in here so . . here goes:

I just finished builing a system and I have an EVGA 8800GTS 320mb. I have a huge overclock on my cpu and memory (E4300 C2D running at 3.1g).

I have issues/questions:

1. I've been searching and reading the o/c threads for this card and have not yet seen anyone mention increasing the voltage to the video card in the bios. Is that possible/necessary/desireable? I'm fresh from the AGP days . . . is this no longer done with PCIE?

2. While climbing the o/c ladder on my cpu, I hit a wall with my fsb and proceeded to up my cpu voltage one click to 1.485. When I did that, I lost all video. Everything seemed to work but I had a blank/black screen. The wonderful Serpentroyal, who was helping me with my o/c didn't know what to make of that so he just suggested I take what I got so I set the cpu volts back to 1.465 at 344 fsb and all is well. Did anyone ever experience this? Did I reach a point where the cpu was lapping the video somehow? I'm wondering if overclocking the video will allow me to start up the o/c ladder on the cpu. Serpant ended up a lot higher than myself but has a different video card.

3. But I don't want to push the video ALL the way. . . I'm still stock and everything I'm running now runs great. A light to moderate video card o/c would be fine.

Suggestions?

Thanks.
