About $25.
In about 480,000 (~2400 fill-ups) miles a Tesla would start saving me money, assuming electricity is 100% free.
Back on-topic...I don't think a Tesla is about saving money. It's about a GREAT car that is on the cusp of technology. For some, the convenience of the charger stations is definitely very good. I still hold that (for me) I would need the ability to charge from home.
OP - give us some impressions after a month or two of driving. I can't wait to see some more information regarding maintenance and upkeep in a couple years on these. The cost of ownership will be interesting to see long-term with the potential of excellent reliability.
You cannot assume a fill up will always cost $25. The combination of Tesla SuperCharging stations that can take a Tesla Model S to a 80% charge in 40 mins and a charging station at a residence makes long distance travel very practical for this electricl car. Which is really a first for a EV.
