My new cat won't notice the TV

but I pop in any of the Shrek movies and she would sit down and watch the entire movie!

As soon as the end credits start rolling then she'd get up and go. Weird.

To a cat, I bet that a movie looks more like a slide show. To our relatively sluggish eyes, 23.976fps creates some illusion of movement. A cat has much quicker response times, so I'd imagine that it would see a movie as a really jumpy animation.

The only thing my cat would ever watch was when the DVD went to screensaver mode, causing a little circular "spot" to bounce around the screen. Otherwise, she just didn't care what was on.
She never was concerned with mirrors, either. She'd look, but was quite uninterested, as if I'd just put down a slab of bleached wood.

I've already tested her several times,

Put in different movies, shows from cable programming, fast motion stuff, lots of colors like 'Finding Nemo'

nothing gets her unless its Shrek! she'd merrily walk towards the sofa where I sit and she'd sit down on the floor right by my feet.

i just know that a normal cat is like one with ADHD....very short span of attention and goes off and does other things or gets distracted with the slightest noise....but not her.

My cat loves watching cat videos on youtube. As soon as a video is done playing he starts to look out the window. We find another video, and he watches it to the end.. and its the window again.

My cat doesn't give a crap about the TV. She'll get up in front of it to try and get your attention since she knows you're looking at for some reason.

The only exception is when a show about cats is on. Then she watches intently and then bats at the tigers or bobcats that are on TV. Its pretty funny. I never saw her do it when we were watching a show about housecats though.

Maybe she has a thing for Puss in Shrek? Or it could be their voices that grab her attention. My cat once snapped at my neighbor's daugthers when they were young but he would never bite anyone it has to do with the pitch of their voices.

That's cool. I had a cat who watched a couple of shows like that, only sporadically. One was a national geographic about cats, and when the domestic cats were making the breeding yowling noises, he was on top of the tv, looking behind it, under the couch.......

My cat used to watch baseball. If someone got a hit he would jump and bat at the ball when it was moving. Very annoying.

My two cats don't seem to care to much for TV but a few scenes on Planet Earth did catch their attention for a little :p

Any my female cat will try and attack the screen saver on my media center.
