3 tons?

3 tons in weight. that's for my impreza L. it is a small car.

An impreza L. weighs 6000 pounds?... You sure 😕

he's obviously smoking.

as per the celica, i don't like it much...too small and too girly, but everyone likes different things so congrats to you on your car.

The Celica is like my Honda Prelude. Looks fast. But slow as molasses. Mine's manual too, but it weighs a hefty 3000lb.

2.2L H22 VTEC engine with rated 200hp/128lb-ft torque. Most likely much lower at the flywheel.

I thought I read in older magazines that the later gen Preludes have favourable handling, even though it's a FWD.

The most I've ever done was 170km/h on the Prelude. That was on the stock tires. Wasn't sure of the speed rating of the tire, so didn't take it too far. Even at those speeds it felt very stable.

Dude, a lude will eat any version Celica for lunch IIRC. And btw, you have closer to 160 ft-lbs of torque. Check your specs😉

And to the OP, congrats on the new car! Hopefully I get to feel that way sometime this year but I guess time will tell. Personally I never really liked the looks but its definitely a solid car that should last you a long time.

Halik, are you smokin crack? 110 unsafe? Sheesh. My Accord felt fine at that speed when it was stock. Now it tops out at 110 in 4th. Haven't tried 5th yet😉

Maybe... maybe not. The Celica-GTS is a pretty peppy car. 180hp, and weighs about 2500lbs. Granted it has 20hp less than the Prelude, it still weighs roughly 500 pounds less. In the quarter mile, I think the GTS ran around a mid 15, but I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty sure they'd be pretty close, more than likely a drivers race, but if I had to put money on it, I'd probally put it on the Celica GTS.

The GT isn't bad, 140hp and 2500lbs is pretty peppy too, probally a close race for my Miata 😛. Miata runs a low to mid 16 stock, depending on the driver/tires. Then again, Miatas aren't a drag car anyway.

Yeah I think someone's filled your tyres with concrete. This is a japanese car ie no 8 litre block pushing out 60bhp. An impreza will probably have a wet weight of around 1500kg. Dry they're at ~1350Kg: Clickerize here

Er...."The Car?"

"My ride?"

"Pussywagon?"

"My mobile motel on wheels?"

"So glad I don't have to take the bus?"

😕

THIS is a "mobile motel on wheels".

Nice car though. I would have killed for that when I was young and single. 😉

only 500 down out of 22,000? isn't that rediculously low? i'm curious how many months the payements are for, and what the % is.

personally I couldn't stand being that much in a hole, especially for something that only gets me to work.

Thats the '05, too. The classic Impreza shape was 150kg(300+ lbs) lighter.

Only problem is GT-S' are tricky to launch😛 I see many more high 15-low 16's at the track then I do low-mid 15's. I think the launch technique is similar to a S2k; clutch abuse required😉 At any rate, I still think the equivalent Honda 1.8 is a far better motor.

That rigs bout ready for a 5' wing on it . And put some noise on it,you know , the muffler thing . Stride forth as he who shall be heard .

Aren't most of those high RPM motor cars hard to run? I used to love the s2000 but man I don't think I've ever seen one break out of 15s at CA speedway.

Same for for the RX8s, at CA speedway, I see them running low 16s all day long. 😛 I need to go back to the track sometime and beat up on some GTSs or RX8s. 😀

Yeah, they are harder to launch. I do think I see better results from hybrids/preludes and GS-R's then others though. People tend to consistently run low-mid 15's in GS-R's. Besides, you can't deny a B18 is worlds better then the Toyota peice😉

Congrats on the new car but.....

God I hate to be nagative but man, $22K for a GT, I mean a GT ??
I would think you should be able to get a GTS for that price.
As a matter of fact, I see a Celica GTS on Ebay with 650 miles for $19,900 Buy it Now.

For $22K, you can get a Cobalt SS 2 door with 200hp++.
I mean the Celica is a personal favorite of mine but only if its a GTS.
I just can't get over the fact that you paid $22K for a car with 140hp especially since you were obviously looking for something sporty.

The 2zz GTS/XRS motor does have some strange problems like broken lift bolts and poor gearing that makes it fall out of lift easily, but stock for stock it seems to be otherwise a respectable competitor to an equivalent B series motor. The other thing is it took Toyota almost a decade to get the same level of performance and even then, only with help from Yamaha, who builds sport bikes. Of course modded they're not even close because there's nothing for the 2zz motor.

The GT actually has a fatter powerband than the GTS. The manual GT has pretty aggressive gearing and ideally can run high 15s which isn't too bad. All the celicas cost too much though, I was going to buy a basic 5 speed GT, but all the qoutes I got were like ~18K before tax, which is a ripoff. IMO, the car is worth 16K or so. In the end I bought an i4 accord for the same price, which is like twice as roomy and just as fast.

Of course with automatic, the car becomes alot slower with either motor and it just becomes kind of a show car without much performance to back it up.
