You are a dickhead for even saying that. Unbelievable what complete, anal passageways we have for humans sometimes.
I gotta wonder if people who have that kind of attitude ever lost someone in their life.

preach on brutha.

but on topic..... i must say: i simply CANNOT feel comfortable (not safe, just COMFORTABLE) unless my seatbelt is on. it's as if i've conditioned myself to driving wiht it strapped on. guess it's a good habit i've fallen into...

I don't let people ride with me until they put theirs on. We just sit there until they go "oh, you're serious?"

Why the hell would someone NOT wear a seatbelt? I'm still waiting to hear a good argument against them. I have a friend who NEVER wears his and I think he's an idiot for wearing one but hey...it's his life.

That said, it is tragic that your neighbor lost his wife. I would be devastated if something like that happened to me.

The thing that hits home hardest is that it was prolly just another one of their routines of the week...the weekly grocery shopping. You'd never expect something so simple and routine to go so wrong. One minute you're deciding whether to buy the name brand margarine for $2 or save the extra $0.30 and go with the no name brand. Next minute you're wondering how you're going to carry on in life without your significant other :(

Life's very fragile.

I ALWAYS buckle up.

*Shrug* Should have buckled up, whether or not I am a dickhead. I guess they both learned their lesson.

If it was a motorcyclist not wearing a helmet, everyone would be saying it was his fault for dying.

:( to hear but:

Neither person was wearing a seat belt

They knew better...besides, isn't it the law to buckle up? I know here in Ky a driver can be pulled over for not wearing one (no other reason required now.)

  1. Sorry to hear about your neighbor. Charles is going to be a basket case, no doubt.
  2. My step-sister flipped her car and was ejected. She didn't need no stinkin' seatbelt! Car rolled right over her. Closed casket funeral...
  3. I imagine most SUV rollover fatalities, wouldn't be fatal if seatbelts were worn.
  4. I think the seatbelt and helmet laws are BS, except where kids are concerned. We don't need a nanny state telling us what to do. If you think we do, why are people allowed to ride motorcycles and climb mountains?

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

I was and still angry to learn that she never wore a seat belt BUT she didn't "deserve" to die, some people are off their rockers in here. This is horrible. I was a Fireman in New York for 8 years and saw a lot of car wrecks, we didn't have these SUV tanks back then with this rolling over and flipping.

Anyway I will try and find out what happened to Penny (small black Pomerainian). We heard info about finding the other small dog Hershey the next day but nothing on Penny. Donna and I used to care for Penny when our Neighbor next door used to have her before giving her to Michelle across the street.

It's getting Daylight now and I will go over to the where the wreck occured. If no one has put up one of those Roadside Crosses I would like to put one up. Does anyone in here know about them, where to get one etc? I will stop and get some flowers first.

How is it anyones fault for dying in an accident!? What if it had been an accident where they were pinned in their car and the seatbelt had been worn and they couldn't get out... gas leak.. explosion. Or even in this accident, they could have been tightly secured and the top of the car crushed.. where you gonna go when the roof collapses on you?

You are one heartless fvck.

sorry to hear this man...wished they were wearing their seatbelts, it saved my life recently and i'll never doubt its effectiveness again :(

As far as those crosses, I would think that most people make them from supplies at like home depot or something.

Are you on acid now? This has no meaning.

Seatbelts do help in saving lives. However I have heard of cases where in an accident they cause a blood clot and a week later the person dies. I don't think it's very smart to drive without one especially since they help keep you in your seat going around a turn at as fast as the car/truck can handle it. It sucks when someone dies young. I cringe every time I hear about a 2 year old dying (my son is 2). We don't understand death but we are not built to last. When we get into a car, or go climbing, or rush into a burning home, or step out of our bath-tub, we take our lives into our own hands and you just never know. It's very sad but (and sorry if this is cold) it's just how life is. I lost plenty of friends, relatives who died long before "their time". But who's to say, "Their time". The unfortunate ones are the ones left behind to deal with the loss. Pick up the pieces of their lives and move one. Remember the loved one but try to live a full life as they would have wanted.

I feel for you and her family. Maybe the seatbelt would have helped, doesn't matter anymore at this point. Just a lesson to be learned by the rest of us, if we choose to lean it. Some just don't care.

Ejected from vehicle. . . I have no doubt that seat belts would have prevented that.

Sorry about your neighbors.

I can understand why teenagers would decide it wasn't cool. But it's hard for me to imagine why a 36 yo woman would NOT be wearing a seatbelt. Of coure I'm from IL and have grown up with it as mandatory.

Yeap sad. Seat belts saved my life, wifes, adn sons where we were hit head on about 6 years ago. The other guy wasnt wearing his seat belt and he didnt make it through the night.

I cant believe that people dont wear the belt now. I think most younger than 30 wear it as they mostly grew up wearing it. I do remember though jumping around in our Blazer as a kid. One of us always wanted to sit between the front seats on the storage well or to play in the back.

Yeah believe it or not some adults voluntarily do not wear seatbelts. Mind boggling isn't it? Single most effective piece of safety equipment in your vehicle.

As a teen my friends and I were all maniacs, but it never even considered to us not to wear a seatbelt. That's like sky diving without a backup chute, riding a motorbike without a helmet, etc.
