Gainesville woman killed in Jackson County wreck
They only had the SUV for about 2 months. She was such a hard working, sweet person
Edit: Please people, this is a horrible lesson. Seatbelts save lives.
I added "Mandatory debate" to Thread Title. This should Technically be in the P&N Forum area.
My Dad refuses to wear a seatbelt even after seeing what happened to our Neighbor while he was here.
My wife Donna actually got a $50 Ticket a couple of weeks ago at a City of Atlanta Seatbelt Checkpoint in the Buckhead district, she normally wears her belt but just left her work parking deck and was only going around a city block for lunch and forgot to put in on. Her passenger did buckle up and did not get a ticket.
Here is my take on this. I was a Fireman for 8 years in New York and saw a lot of MVA's (Motor Vehicle Accidents). Even recently have attended to Wreck victims when Donna and I have seen wrecks happen in front of us and I went to the aid of a driver that was thrown from a car not wearing a seltbelt, he was also drunk and survived the wreck. As soon as I saw he was fine and all the beer cans flowing all over the place I left him for the Police to take care of.
I always buckle up. I however feel it is up to the people in the Vehicle to make the Choice and not a Government checkpoint. It is not likely Donna would've died if gotten into a wreck on the city street that is bumper to bumper at 5 MPH. Doing 70 on the Interstate or even 55MPH on a winding 2 Lane Country highway like my neighbors is a different story.
