I stood there and thought for a minute and then I realized what she was talking about. I ran downstairs and showed her what she looked at: It was the box for my male-to-male s-video cord. My mom thought I was gay because I bought an s-video cord. [added] She was relieved until I told her I really was gay. [/added]
The cable had two male ends. The box said male-to-male on it. His mom read only enough to confuse herself.

When two things plug together, there is a "male" part which goes inside the "female" part. He bought a cord with two male ends on it so he can plug one end into something and the other end also into something (as opposed to having something plugged into it).
So this box said:
"Male to Male
S-Video Cable"
on it. His mom saw the Male to Male part and thought he bought some game about gay people and concluded that he was gay and into gay things. So she didn't make him dinner.
