or they are old, rich and don't need anything. My dad says it every year. IF he needs/wants something he goes and buys it. so buying him christmas and birthday cards is a bitch.

It's about wants....gifts are not 'needs'.

In your case you want nothing because you simply cannot reciprocate the gifts. That's really sad though to me.
