the milk comany only has milk in 1/2 gallon glass bottles so the moron saw bottles for the amount instead of gallons.

my wife called the dairy and the manager had the note that we left and he said that its pretty clear that we wanted 4 gallons (8 bottles)....

so i guess for now on we have to make sure we put down how many bottles we want because the milkman can fricken multiply by 2.

link to the dairy.

He knew exactly what he was doing, he knew he would have to make a return trip after you were at work ;)

3 and they love dairy milk. if we run out they will not touch supermarket milk. huge taste difference. oh and no growth hormones are used on their cows.

I think that is a business that needs to start up again. People will pay a premium for that service. I remember, as a kid, they delivered milk, sour cream, butter, and even ice cream, if you answered the door. Oh, the memories. :)

I do pay a premium and a lot of people do in denver for milk delivery. there are 4 dairys that deliver. my monthy milk bill is about 70 bucks.

yes, and butter, OJ, sour cream and other things like that. oh and the seasonal eggnog is to die for. the eggnog in the store is water compared to dairy eggnog.

I just found this thread, but I want to put in my thoughts:
The milkman was most likely erring on the safe side.
You would not believe the people who cannot tell 1/2 gallon from 1 gallon.
I'm sure he has had many times where a note was left for X number of GALLONS only to be chewed out because the homeowner really wanted X number of bottles.
I say this because as a child, we had a milkman, and once I was told to have him leave X "1/2 Gallons" of Ice cream, and I inadvertently told him X "Gallons". My mother reamed him out but good the next time he came, but the poor sap was only doing what he was told.
I'm sure he would rather make a trip to bring MORE milk than to have to pick up extra.

Next time, put in your note (in parentheses,) the number of BOTTLES you want.

while what you say may be true. its also a dumb move on the delivery guys part. there is a huge diffrence between 2 gallons and 4 when you have kids. So now they either have to make a special order (wich cost per item delivered), buy from the store or try to make it last.

but i always pu tdown how many bottles i want.
