Lessee... why the name Urinal Mint. Hrm.

No real reason really... I didn't earn the nickname or anything if that's what you're asking. I just thought it would give everyone a funny mental image, that's all. But I always wonder... how does the person feel that changes those things out? Talk about a dirty job!

damn man, you lucked out ;)

question: i don't want to suggest anything, i'd just like to know out of curiousity. please don't take this the wrong way. isn't it a contract that they send you exactly what you ordered, in this case a duron 800? that means they're still obligated to send a duron 800. there's a law (maybe just in CA, or maybe not at all) i heard from the hot deals forum a while back that says anything they ship you otherwise is NOT mentioned anywhere in the contract, and therefore considered a gift you do not need to send back. so hypothetically, couldn't you still get your duron 800 and keep the 1.2ghz? i'm not saying do it (that's just being damn greedy and i'm sure whoever you ordered it from has already lost an employee in packaging and shipping...) but i'd like to know if you could. anyone know?

i was thinking about this, if anyone remembered the battery fiasco a while back.... you could order a 16pack of AA batteries and get them free after a rebate, but the rebate was only for the 16 pack. when the company sent 2 sets of an 8pack instead the rebate wasn't valid and as such they needed to send out the 16 pack again, and let the consumers keep the original 2 packs of 8 they had sent. something along those lines. i don't know, it's 3am and i'm a little out of it ;)

i just thought it was an interesting scenario and loopholes our system of law has (yes i just saw 15 minutes in the theaters as well :) )

I see your point, but I am also not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

So far as someone else ending up with my order (which I seriously doubt... my bill looks like a mix-up based on the store's shopping engine), that doesn't concern me. All they need to do is call up the place and have the problem taken care of. Based on what I know of this store, any problems that do arise will be handled quickly and correctly.

For the sake of the store (I absolutely WILL NOT contribute to them having more problems) I won't reveal where it was. I too am a capitalist and understand how a company can go broke when people exploit a loophole in the retail system. You could look at it as "protecting the hand that fed me."

Cheers :)

To those screaming dishonesty, I give you a big raspberry PBLTTTTTTTT!

It is entirely true that there is a FEDERAL law that states any unsolictied items you recieve in the mail are your and are considered a gift.
They infact did not send him what he ordered. They sent him the wrong item. It's his luck it was in his favor, they could have sent a mouse instead... guess what would happen then. They would make him pay for the return shipping to return thier mouse and then ship him the cpu. So he would be out the shipping for the mouse, and the delay for the cpu. So legally he is in the right, but if they had sent him a mouse instead, even with the law he would have had to fight with them, to get the board and keep the mouse.

Yeah, i once had a very popular online store send me 2 17" monitors instead of the 1 I ordered. I still have those 2 monitors on my desk at home. This was over a year ago. Woohoo... My friend ordered a monitor from them when I told him about my fortune and he also got 2 monitors. I think the orders were going to 2 seperate warehouses...

it's a capitalistic society, if a screwup occurs in your favor i don't see why you should feel bad about keeping it. you might as well feel bad about owning microsoft and aol stock because they set other companies out of business, you're more responsible for that then being sent a free cpu. they really have no one to blame but themselves- if you accidently shipped a cpu to someone when you meant to ship them another one, would you blame the shipee? i hope not, take responsibility and bite the bullet, i'm sure this'll teach em a lesson to check their packaging much more carefully from now on.

So what the bulk of you are saying is this: "It is ok to be dishonest as long as it is in your favor??" So if you ordered the T-bird and got a Duron you'd keep it and say "Oh well guess that's my tough luck?"

Give me a break..

And do not go insulting my morals. Yes I would call them and explain that they sent the wrong processor. I would expect them to pay return shipping but would not keep a product I didn't pay for.

This, as always, is my opinion and I sleep extremely well at night because of it.

The fact that some of you would actually return the processor gives me great respect for you... but at the same token, I have a hard time believing that ANYONE would do something like that in this case.

99.9% of the capitalist society only wants a situation rectified if they are the one being wronged. So you get what we have here.

Those of you who have tried to make me feel guilty about what I'm doing should at least respect the fact that I haven't posted this on 20 messageboards and implored everyone to try and induce this error out of the place I ordered it from. I might be riding the fence on this right and wrong moral issue of a "free upgrade," but you should at least give me some credit for being fair outside the domain of this one chip.

If I make a mistake and give someone more than they wanted, I have no problem dealing with that. (Shouts of "Indian Giver!" as a child come to mind... don't flame me for PC crap now) If someone wants to point out my error and help me rectify it correctly, that's what makes good relationships stronger.

But let me ask this question: How many times have you been overcharged at a store, didn't realize it until you had gone, and didn't bother to go back and do anything about it?.

I bought a football at walmart one time... the shelf said it was $14.99, and it rang up for $11.49. I told the cashier that the right price was $14.99 and that someone had probably swapped tags a while back, meaning to buy it. The girl looked at me and said "I can't believe you're arguing for the correct, higher price... just pay whatever this says and move on."

Kinda makes you wonder just how capitalist some of our society isn't. :)
