my lower back is killllling me

sorry to hear that man, stop sitting in your computer chair so much

is that what does it? I thought that was just for stiff backs. Mine literally hurts. when i lie down it hurts for a minute. when i walk, it hurts for a while. when i lie down on my back and wait until the hurting stops and then roll to my side, it hurts again...

I dont even know what it can be except looong time ago i hurt it while pushing a car...

How do you stretch the lower back? If I try to reach for my toes, it kills me

be thankful you didn't fracture a vertabrae like I once did. I couldn't take a sh1t for 2 weeks it hurt so bad.

Any pains shooting down the front of your legs?

Try laying on your back on the floor. Raise one leg up and touching the floor with your toe on the opposite side as the leg without taking your shoulders off the floor.

Ultimately, strengthening and stretching your stomach and back muscles will lessen the pain.

im 5 8 and 155lbs.

posture definitely could be better but it's not outrageously bad. I guess i have to hit a chiropractor. Or get an mri or something.

Could possible be a herniated disk.

Here are some symptoms my wife had.

-when she was getting out of bed (going from lying position to sitting position) she cried in pain
- needed help getting into bed .. she would sit on mattress and basically fall over then I would life her legs onto the bed.
-pain in hip and going down one leg

Hopefully it is not a herniated disk but I would do some exercises that are probably good even if you have no back pain, like lie on your back in bed and pull knees to chest one at a time and then both knees.

See a chiropractor or a back doctor (I cannot remember the name but you know what I mean)

I tweaked my back sleeping on a couch, for like 5 days I was in pure pain, it was awful. Fortunately I could still go to work (sit at desk etc) but man getting out of bed was painful. But yeah, most back pain is related to weight.

I used to have some twinges, but I got rid of them by loosening my vertebrae. I don't know if you can do it, but here's what I do:

1. Find a stable, waist-high table or similar surface.
2. Push yourself off the ground with your hands on the table, so that your legs aren't carrying any weight.
3. Loosen your lower back muscles (hardest part).

Good luck.

go to a doctor because it can get serious, you might have scholisis or one of those or u can have the stuff described above.

After you get over this issue(see a doctor dammit) maybe consider going to the gym and strengthening that lower back. Yes a lot of the time this is a weight issue, but if your back muscles are strong they'll be able to hand your weight a LOT better.

I remember my back felt so much nicer when I exercized my lower back and I'm not exactly a lightweight heh. Just don't injure yourself working out lol. Make it challenging, but not back breaking =p

Probably not, but very well could be a prostate problem, or kidney infection/stones. Although you'd know if you had stones or not, trust me.

The doctor can give you a urine test for most of this, but a prostate exam is the good ol finger up the you know where.

Seriously though, an infection there can cause tremendous back pain.

sleep with a pillow between your legs in a fetal position

Walk as much and as often as you can

use a heating pad when sitting

keep your weight down

stretch

Tylenol 500 mg 6 at a time when its really bad

these help me the most

walking is the single best thing-work up to 7 miles a day was my Dr's advice and it helped the best

i had surgery @23 for a herniated disc after a failed nucleutome dissectomy,i have re injured it off and on,over the years, and have been down for three months now.

avoid sweeping/moping/vacuuming/digging as these will make it flair.sit-ups can help but only after the muscles are strengthened-not while hurting.use walking to get the muscles back in shape.you need to walk past the pain-till it hurts pretty good then eases off before you stop walking.

caffeine can cause you to tense up and in turn make the pain worse according to Dr's (i drink coffee and it does affect the pain if i drink a lot.)

stay near your ideal weight-less pain and easier to rebuild the muscles

hot showers or baths will relax the muscles

maintaining weight and exercise are most important.

good luck David

the pain at the end of the day can be rough,an electric blanket can make a world of difference

you should stretch

Lay on your back and pull your knee to your chest and hold it for a count of ten. Do both knees separately and then do both knees. Repeat this three times a day. Doing 25 sit ups a day to strengthen your stomach muslces should help too.*

Moist heat helps too so take long hot showers letting the water hit your back.

*Of course do these after your back feels better

Thank you fellas. I will take heed of your advice. As to the knees to chest movement while laying down, is that with the aid of my hands or leg power only?

Probably be good to work on those stomach muscles, as they help support your back.

I had a laminectomy about 10yrs ago. I suggest you go to a doctor before you go to a chiropractor. If it's really bad they'll do a MRI to see what's going on. I went to a chiro- big mistake. Level of quakery was appauling.

I have a bulging disk right now, had it for the last two months. Spend most of my time in pain, and mornings in agony. Wakes me up out of a sound sleep at least 3-4 times a night. Got great pills for it, but I don't wanna be stoned for most of the day.

A heating pad helps and I agree with the posters here that recommend stretching. What also helps me... and this is gonna seem weird... if when I lay on the bed and my b/f pulls my feet. Ok ok ok, I went to a chiropractor and for $300.00 he took an X-Ray and then made me lay down on a table and he pulled my feet, one at a time, to straighten my spine. Did not help at first, so when he told me that for another $300.00 I could come back once a day for three days, and every day for a week for only $1,000. I said no. But after a few hours, my back did start to feel better, so now I get my daughter of my b/f to pull my feet.

Lay flat on your stomach, Stretch your arms over your head and grab the top of the mattress... Get someone to pull your feet straight back. Hold it for about 10 seconds. then do the other one. After about two or three times each leg. Just relax. Hopefully this will work for you, too.

Nooo! Do not manipulate your spine if you don't know what you're doing. This can be a seriously disasterous occurance.

I know exactly what you mean, i have the same..
When it's at it's worst I daydream of being put on a medieval "rack"...

i injured mine & nothing helped until i started
physical therapy - a few months later i was as good as new.
