Thanks for the serious replies, and thanks for the non-serious replies for some laughters?

story 1: my big sister called me and said "wow nice job, 49 replies on anandtech huh?
her boyfriend lurks here

i'm planning on taking her tv away, and her computer. We have another computer in the living room, she can use that (for reports and stuff) until her grades go up. I'm also going to require her to get some sort of progress report from her teachers in about 4 weeks. She was a 3.5+ student, and it droped to 3.0+ and now i dont' know.

I am going to tell her that i'm disappointed with her and that I put a lot of freedom on her because i thought that she was responsible enough to attack a task when she has to.

As far as my grades? In high school I had a 4.16, and in college, my first year was a 2.2???? and now i raised it to a 2.76, things are looking up for me now. I screwed up my first year of college, but i'm confident i can graduate with a 3.0, if i keep up my work so far.

and about parents, i don't know, my family is weird, everyone is stubborn and no one talks about their feelings. My older sister and I always joke about how the hell did we turn out right when our parents rarely openly expressed love or concern for our grades. We are both trying to show this love and concern to our 2 siblings so that they can learn to be more open to others (unlike how i WAS). Maybe the difference is that, although i was never shown love, my parents sure as hell beat me when i needed it as a kid. My little sis and brother doesn't even get touched now. I think that is good evidence that spanking your kid is good. . . j/k:D

7th grade, she was a good student, the only C she ever got was in PE. and she claimed it was because no one ever passed her the ball so she doesn't participate, and the teacher gives her a C for not participating.

Anyways, her recent report card came and it apprently has a 1.5 gpa, wtf??
:|

She has been online a lot in the past month, to the point where I can't call home to say hi to my parents (i'm in college). There are times where she is online until midnight, on a school night, and she may even stay up until 3 am, I"m not exactly sure what time she sleeps since i'm not home, neither is my older sister who is off at college. We never had to worry about her school work and such, but now this 1.5 gpa shows up, seriously man, what's wrong with her?

When i go home on the weekend, i notice that she sits in her room all the time, watchs tv in there until 2 or 3, sometimes 4 in the morning, this isn't normal behavior for a 7th grader right?

Any ideas on what's wrong with her? Could she be depressed or anything like that? I really don' t konw how to approach her. At this moment i just want to yell at her and tell her to stop being such a stupid "i don't want to be a bandwagon, i don't follow the crowd, if no one wants to be my friend screw them" little dumba$$. I want to have her talk to the school counselor to see what is wrong.

any input?
thanks

in this world of grade inflation, all she needs to do is sleep with the teacher(s) and she'll cruise thru life :p
