Well, broken is probably the wrong term. Destroyed works better.
I decided to get my bike out of the garage and do some riding. I bought this bike in the late 90s and for several years commuted on it 8 or so miles a day so it has some miles on it. After spending about an hour cleaning the bike up and adjusting it I went for a little ride.
My block is mostly flat so I figured I would be OK. Woo, this is fun. Lets keep riding. Now I have done several laps of the block, feeling good. Woo. Now at the entrance to my neighborhood. I only live 7 or so miles from work, lets ride there. Alright doing good, taking it slow, consistent, not pushing it. Make it to work. Alright, I did it! Turn around, ride home.
Felt good the entire time, no pain, no problem. Total trip was about 16 miles including the laps of my block.
Wake up this morning to excruciating pain. My knee is swollen up like a cantaloupe. Pop some ibuprofen and get in the shower. I about fell over in the shower. Got dressed and drove to work. Tried the stairs. No go. Took the elevator. Now that the meds have kicked in I actually feel better standing than sitting. Go figure.
My brain still thinks I am 25.
