Yeah pro linux threads or anti-MS threads that turn into linux discussions have been increasing on that sub for the last few months.
it's crazy how much bad press windows is getting lately
I think it is an old Pokemon meme about hurting itself in its confusion? They brag how much code is being written by AI, then release a statement later, admitting there are wide spread critical bugs in core components of the OS. Correlation does not equal causation, but sometimes, where there is smoke, there is fire.
Being overt about selling you out to the feds without a fight isn't the best PR either. These corpos e.g. MS and Nvidia, don't even care anymore. They have created enormous captive markets.
The push back from windows chuds, makes no sense. Some are obvious bot accounts and paid to post. Others are doing it out of tribalism, to be contrarians, or maybe just to protect stock prices? Regardless of motivation, it is bad and they should feel bad. Linux is the closest thing to altruism you will find in the PC space. From what I've read, most have little to no telemetry. And the vast majority of what is collected is anonymous and used to improve the distro.
As to my own 15+ years of dipping my toes in to free, open source operating systems; That's over. Perhaps due to Valve's involvement, Linux gaming is where I needed it to be to commit. As I wrote before; Fallout 4 keeps crashing on 11pro with max settings, when it is rock solid on CachyOS. I have had issues with windows breaking old games that used to run perfectly fine before. Or the game updates breaking the game on current windows.
Not getting sales pitched on one drive, office, linking my phone, or allowing a bunch of extra data collection, just to make it to desktop feels good. So does setting up a new build and not needing to drop money on another license.
