Can't get to half the sites on the net 🙁 No forums.rallispec.net, no swforums, now automotiveforums, no nissanx... 🙁 At least I still have here.

arg...out of all the sites on the internet, you have to be able to still access this one. :disgust:

who is your ISP

That's what's strange -- it's XMission, who is one of the best out there.

why can't your ISP ever go down?

It does. The place i work cannot function without internet access, so it gets fixed uber fast.

😀 I don't deny it. But at least I offer some (albeit very little) helpful info at times.

Must be a local Qwest problem then.

yeah... must be.

And just what troubleshooting have you done? Hmm... yeah, it must be the ISP.
Try trace route to the sites
Try another computer on the network
Call the ISP's tech support and ask for local outage information
Can you ping the sites by URL?
Can you ping the sites by IP?
Are you sure that it's not that those sites are down but a whole connection problem, just intermittantly?

Come on, bub. You post on a technical forum. Let's not turn into an AOL member when something is amiss 🙂

Oh Nik, you don't give me enough credit. Seems like a logical conclusion that it would have to be the carrier's problem within a local circuit if literally half the sites I tried to access wouldn't come up, but for someone who is on another circuit through the same ISP (that has only one CO) can access them, especially considering the problems were intermintent, not constant. Also considering the construction activity in the central routing areas in Salt Lake, it's not too uncommon to have some fat redneck dig up a line or to have smaller circuits temporarily disconnected and reconnected or to have a poor connection in general.

That was a little confusing. So you're saying that someone else on the same ISP elsewhere in the city is able to get to the sites and you're not? Big deal. If they *weren't*, then it would be the ISP. You need more proof before you can start blaming sh!t on the ISP. And, yes, I give you all the credit you deserve. 😛
