I dunno about anyone else, but I would never spend 24k on a 92 car unless it was an NSX or something.
You can even get a 95 S400's at that price.
I would most likely have opted out for a brand new accord or something.
Ya maybe, but you really can't compare the two! It's like apples and oranges.
And if you actually understood what the car was...you'd see why he bought it. But it's okay that you don't know anything about mercedes...you are very much entitled to your opinions!
🙂
Money really was'nt an issue with this car, he just loves it and I'm happy, for him too
It's just about me sharing something that we're are happy about.
You do realize the S Class is the best in a Benz ? Who in the world would choose an 92 over an 95 S Class ?
Please don't tell me that I don't know anything about cars. As much as you're entitled to your opinions,
I'm pretty sure I know more about cars than you do.
Additional:
the 92 car is nice by no means, especially if it's in great condition. But you could have had a much newer car.
You're right...I personally don't know too about about any cars!
🙂 But my husband does so I'm getting him to chat with you about it from now on.
So here he is:
Hey guys. Shaun here (or should I say Andre he..he). I hear what you are saying about the car and I am not on ATOT at all but I felt I have to defend this car. I'm pretty sure you DO NOT know more than me about cars! Sealy posted this just as conversation but as to your replies I have to say this.
The 500E is very rare and the car is a joint project with Porsche. There was no S class with this. Exclusivity does add to the price. You have to remember that this car is far from a 300E.
Second, a 1995 S500 has a different motor producing 302 hp and 334lb/ft of torque. The 500E has DOHC out of the 500SL but with more torque (354 lb/ft) and less weight. Ahh weight, an S class tips the scales well over 4,000lbs (I believe 4,200) while the 500E is close to 3,800. This makes a difference.
The only parts on this car from a 300E are the hood, roof, and trunk. This car is rare and appreciating rather than common (S class) and depreciating. No big deal but a difference. Don't get me wrong, I love the S class but for me and my love of cars, this one is for me. I have never owned something that is common and this car is NOT common.
🙂
Bottom line. Four door performance sedan specific vs. a four door luxury saloon. I have also heard about buying an NSX. I want FOUR doors and an NSX is far more expensive than my car with less to offer. Cheers!
