Please PM me with the contact info of your school administrators.
Thank you.
Are you serious?
I work for the company that makes and distributes that title.
I figure I could have someone call them... we don't normally pursue high schools/middle schools when they don't license from us, but showing pirated materials without our permission is like a double whammy. Just a heads up/scare/fyi.
Do you work for MGM or UA?
It just seems a little petty, though, to go after some high school in who-knows-where over showing some pirated movie. Unless it would help you get you somewhere in your job I don't see any benefit to anyone for causing a stink about it.

Today we had day one of Senior Activities week, and we had to watch Bowling for Columbine movie, starring your favorite man: Michael Moore. I was wondering how we could be watching the movie when it has not come out in stores. Few minutes later, they start the movie, and what do I see on the bottom of the projection? " #TmD-moviez " and " Irc.Criten.Net " My friend took pictures of it, and here you go (had to Photoshop it so you could see it):

Even if it's pirated?
And I'm not going to go into legal jargon about fair use agreements, but I will say it's always good to get the studio's permission beforehand. Like I said, high/middle schools are small change... it would hurt more than benefit the company, but a lil slap on the wrist by means of a phone call should be enough for something like this. Shame on the teachers for basically saying "Piracy is okay!" to the kids by showing them the film.
I take issues like this personally, because my father's business (sole means of support for my family, with 4 kids) was hurt by piracy. Not a parallel situation, but similar.

None of you or your bboys/girls download illegal mp3s?
I don't know if they do or not, but they're not teachers setting an example for students, are they.

What does that matter? Illegal is illegal. Would you turn in your friends if you found out they were downloading mp3s?

Plus, aren't they setting up examples for others as well? Maybe little siblings, or others that might possibly look up to them if they did? How is that any different?

*shrugs* I work in Legal. And odds are no big lawsuit would be filed, just a warning and heads up, which I think would be appropriate in this situation.

I wouldn't know who to report them to or where to start. Seeing as I work in the legal dept. for the company that distributes the film... come on, now.

You wouldn't be wrong in doing so, but I just think it'd be making a big stink about something that isn't *that* big of a deal. No one gets harmed if nothing is said, but the teacher in question could lose his/her job with a phone call from your office. Is this situation really worth getting someone possibly fired over?

You know it's different for the same reasons I do.

hmm IMO pirating mp3 is much more damaging than that school showing that pirated film. Because eventually, that school would have gotten permission to show it anyways. They just took the easy route.

True, MP3 pirating is damaging as well (benefits too, but it's a debate that has no definitive outcome). But that doesn't change the "easy route" the school took was a wrong one. Agree?

Nope, i agree what the school did was wrong. But why would you feel the need to go after the school but not after your friends if they pirate mp3s? Or even if you didn't go after your friends, would you agree that they deserve to suffer some repurcussions as well for what they do?

Wow. I won't post anything that conflicts/does not agree with another persons interest at ATOT because they will seek legal action against me.
Dezign, if you were really seeking legal action and representing your company/business well than you would not post any details of it on the internet. Including the seeking of information, your company/business' stance on this particular matter, based on uninvestigated and at this moment unwarranted evidence.
You are also exposing/involving a third party while posting on an internet forum instead of directly contacting the initial party under question.
You are mixing your personal and professional life if you continue to act this way on an internet forum such as ATOT. Or is the sole reason that you are here, that you are posting here, becuase you are actively seeking people to prosecute or intimidate?
