Ok, my two cents:

If you're concerned that your gf might regret a tattoo later in life (laser surgery is expensive!) or she's being to rash about it now, then I agree that you should probably ask her to hold off on it and see if she still wants one in a year (and stop making excuses based on your religion for it!). In the end, you have to let her be the person she wants to be. If you're not comfortable with that person, then you're not right for each other.

If this really is just a religious reason, then you're beyond help anyway.

Don't listen to these mindless clones OP. You can hate tattoos if you want to, I know I do...although I'm not sure why religion has to be involved for you to have an original opinion...

You have no right to tell her what to do with her body. She wants to ink up her skin, let her do so. If it's really that much of a turn off for you, move on and start looking for women somewhere else. Question, if you knew that she was interested in getting inked, why did you start seeing her in the first place?

Something interesting that I've read about, just in response to many of these silly rules that the bible lays out, is that many of them were actually good ideas back in the time that the bible was written. Nowadays we have things like refrigeration and proper cooking techniques, but back then many of these biblical "laws" were simply good ideas to stay disease free.

Whether or not the bible is relevant today, that's a different discussion. But I find it kind of fascinating how religion was used as sort of a Jews Guide to Better Health. :p

I am not into tatoos or anything..and I think that someone should have a pretty good reason for getting one.

However...you are in no place to tell your ladyfriend that she can't get a tatoo. If it bothers you that much, just leave her and go to your local bible college to find a "clean" girl.

Now she says she wants a tattoo to show off to people. I asked her why. She says she doesn't know.

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." - Leviticus 19:28

I am very Christian and don't want to be with someone who blatantly sins against God.

She told me that all sins are forgiven in death. Does this mean I can drink human blood and sacrifice kittens to the Lord? I don't think so.

Everyone on this board is pretty much my crowd. And we mostly share opinions. Tell me what you would do in my situation.

Thanks,
Dustin

You just need to get on with the progarm and realize that it is 2006. People get tattoos, deal with it.

Hey, I did 4 years in the Marines back in the early 70's and I got out without a Tat. Not that many other can say the same.

In my case, I never found one that I thought I could be happy with FOREVER. But I have nothing against people that do have them either. If she wants one, she should get one. Him using religion as his reason why she should not get one is, IMO, just lame.

Funny how so many "Christians" conveniently forget this when they preach morality on others.

To the OP: Just break up with her already. She deserves better than you anyway.

Rip the Old Testament from your Bible. As others posted, I really doubt you keep all those Laws yourself, don't expect your Girlfriend to do what you are unwilling to do.

How old is she? Most chicks I know are now regretting the fact that they got a tattoo and are trying desparately to get them removed. Of course this is after reaching that point in life post-childbirth and showing up in a professional workplace. I think it's dumb that people will look strangely upon those with a tattoo but it is a fact of life so imho anyone who puts one in a noticeable location is not very bright. Guys can get away with the noticeable look to some extent as long as it isn't something along the lines of 'SATAN IS MY MASTER AND I WILL EAT YOUR FLESH IN HIS NAME'...

Exactly. Back then there WERE good reasons to follow these rules, and they were there for a reason. To protect a persons HEALTH, and how better to get someone to follow a rule that is basically sound and made for a good reason, than to say "GOD COMMANDS IT!"

The really cool part (in my opinion) is that there is evidence (via research studies) that eating a Kosher diet according to the rules of food outlined in the Old Testament is still a very healthy way to eat.

Not buying it. Not a single reply by the OP for 4 pages? He was just flamebaiting.

I find it very difficult to not insult you Duddy so I will only say this. She is free to do what she wishes. She isn't your slave, you do not own her.

Demmit, most of the good babble quotes have been used.

Anyway, do nothing, and wait for her to inevitably lose you.

how can you remove faith as a factor when that was the entire point of the thread?
