isn't that rendering? maybe i have different understanding of rendering!! lol

Some people call video encoding rendering, but most people just call it encoding.

Rendering is when you take a 3D model and render a raster out of it. Usually when people say "render a movie", think Toy Story.

In response to someone else on this thread, anything else other than Sandy Bridge is now obsolete. 6 cores with HT is nice, but you're stressing the chip to match SB speeds and it can't be done. Not safely at least.

I disagree ...

As far as video processing goes, it takes my 2600 @ 5g to keep up with my ( old rig ) 980x at 4.2 ( 1.3vcore)...

Sony Vegas programs call it (encoding ) rendering .

I think most Video editing programs such as Vegas, Ulead & etc call encoding ' rendering ' in the context of the application ...

I'm no video rendering/encoding buff, but isn't it technically wrong to call it encoding too?

Isn't it technically transcoding when you are using a video editing program?

(I got taken to task over my misuse of the vernacular once, unfortunately the schooling I received failed to embed itself in my long-term memory so I'm not really sure here what the correct terms are)

I believe you are correct technically, in that some segment of a project may be transcoded; however when you consider the workflow in a program like Vegas, there is a time-line containing the various elements of the project. It may include video clips of one or more codecs, effects, stills, audio & etc.
It would only be the video or audio that is in some format other than the final codec that will be transcoded .. Everything will be rendered out to the final project codec..

Vcore is way too high. You need to dial that back. Too bad that will affect your maximum speeds, but you run the risk of frying your chip. Particularly under heavy load.

Gulftown > Sandy Bridge

Everyone knows this. Everyone.
