Nice system... nice to see someone built a non-sandy bridge system for a change :)

btw, what's up with the 2 SSDs?

Your vcore is kinda on the high side isn't it? I'd be scared to run it 24/7 even on water.

I'm only running my vcore at 1.375 to get 4.6GHz on my 970. If I was willing to push that voltage, could get 4.8-5.0 possibly.

Why?

It seems to me like you're saying "it's nice to see someone built a house out of cheese instead of wood for a change..."

On the other hand, it still should be a pretty damn nice computer. Cheese isn't a great analogy ;) That should do well for rendering - what sort of software are you using?

I think you picked the right CPU, although you should have probably waited for Bulldozer. I doubt it would have been faster than the 970 though, but maybe better price/performance.

I like everything but the ram. 6gb for a rendering rig may be on the low side. Oh well, that's easily remedied. Throw more ram at it and it'll be even happier!

Very Nice :)

I think you are making a good decision to go with a larger case. The 800D isn't the best for air-flow if you ever want to use it as a secondary case with a non-water cooled platform. I just leave my side panel off.

Vcore is way too high. You need to dial that back. Too bad that will affect your maximum speeds, but you run the risk of frying your chip. Particularly under heavy load.

In response to someone else on this thread, anything else other than Sandy Bridge is now obsolete. 6 cores with HT is nice, but you're stressing the chip to match SB speeds and it can't be done. Not safely at least.

Holy $#!T that's a lot of voltage! If it dies less than a year later don't say nobody warned you.
