OK, so seriously. I had mental issues in the past. Many of you feel like I still have them now. That is not open for discussion in this thread.
I'm going to DC in two weeks for the ATOT meet up. I want to take the train from here to Boston. My friend going with me wants to fly. She knows I can't handle flying right now. I'm a lot better than a year ago though - a year ago, I was so much of a freak, that I couldn't even bare sitting on a train for 30 minutes, or in a car for over an hour with another person (if I wasn't driving). I'm better about those now. But I'm not ready to fly.
I suggested to my friend that she fly like she always does, and I'll take the train down Thursday night so I can enjoy Friday and get some work done. She can meet me down there Friday, and we'll both take the train back Sunday, or she can fly home and I'll take the train.
She's having major problems with this. She says she gets claustrophobic on trains. How is that different than me having a fear of flying? And if so, then why can't we just take our own preferred method of travel and meet there at the same time?
I know this is a rant.
Why are you afraid of flying? Is it something with your brain or have you been in a crash or something? And I've never heard of anyone being afraid of a train ride, that sounds really mental to me.
Seriously....and how the hell is flying any less confined than riding a train? I think it's just a convenient (aka bad) excuse.
Anyway, OP, maybe take the opportunity to start tackling your issues with flying? Go to a doctor, explain your ordeal and he/she will probably be willing to prescribe some xanax or valium.
Uhm. I don't take mental drugs, sorry. I get over things the natural way, like I've done in the past.
So you don't drink?
