This is a disturbing thread. Why isn't that girl being honest and open with your friend? Why isn't your friend trying to find out if he is the father? Why do you some the replys say he needs to protect himself? Its the baby that needs caring for, not the grown-ups who created it.

If she has the kid and collects any type of gvt benefit, the state gvt (most likely a District Attorney) will initiate a lawsuit and go after "the deadbeat dad" as the federal government flips the bill for local govt to go after "deadbeat dads." This lawsuit will entitle the gvt to establish paternity via paternity tests on all the alleged partners. Once paternity is established or stipulated too, the gvt will then obtain a Court Order for child support/reimbursement. The gvt will be able to put liens on tax returns, wages.. basically make like a living hell for the next 18 years if the father doesnt want to pay.

Well at least she told you. This girl is telling my friend that she'd never tell him if it was his kid.

As long as she sticks to it, I don't see the problem.

But she's a girl so she won't. Eventually he'll get stuck with back child support up the a$$.

Charlie, you joined AT just to post in this 14 & 2/3 year-old thread?!?

But now that you have, I too would like an update. The kid would be 14 by now.

maybe i'm just dense, but how is your friend going to "get taken" if the girl won't tell him the kid is his? doesn't sound like he'll get taken, at least financially.

Depending on the state, and what the woman does. If she applies for food stamps or other government assistance they will make her figure out who the father is, and make him start supporting her, including back penalty's for not already paying child support.

So it can come back to bite him in the ass for up to 21 years, depending again upon the state and whether the kid goes to college or doesn't.
