Not exactly. It's really silly not to eat somewhere because of some text imprinted on a cup and a bag. I guess you don't have any friends from different religions either...

I absolutely do.

Why is it wrong for me to choose not to eat somewhere that puts religious material on the wrappings?

I'm not being intolerant, I'm not being hateful. They are free to practice any religion they want, as am I. As was stated earlier, if a cup said "Praise Lord Satan" I would expect Christians to not eat there for the same reasons I am.

It's a perfectly legitimate choice to make.

But if youre an atheist, whatever religious message is being posted should be meaningless to you. They could put "praise the easter bunny" and it should have the same significance to you.

Both are equally pathetic. The fact that you refuse to eat food you enjoy because of their religious ideology means you're just as closeminded at the people you hate.

Uh oh. I called down the "since you don't agree with something you are a hateful bigot" people.

no one said you are a hateful bigot.

they said you were a raging hypocrite. which seems pretty accurate.

do you avoid Chik-fil-a, too?

It's not wrong, nor am I here to tell you it is. BUT, it does seem silly *shrug*

What if instead of being an agnostic/atheist I was a Jew and said I wouldn't eat there? I think had my opening post been "As a Jew, I don't want to eat at In-N-Out," being a religious person vs. an atheist would have legitimized my choice to some people.

That seems silly to me.

Can't wait until there is forum software that does this automatically.

I just find the irony very funny that you chose to spend something that says "In God We Trust" on something that doesn't have a God based reference.

Do I have a choice to not use US currency?

Let me guess: "if you don't agree with it then move somewhere else!"

My personal opinion would be "In God We Trust" is a clear violation of the First Amendment. That's for a different thread.

it most certainly is not.

The Establishment Clause

Putting "In God We Trust" on Federal currency sure seems like "respecting an establishment of religion" to me.

Anyway, this veers us further off course from the intent of this thread.

it wouldn't be silly if you argued that In-n-Out didn't prepare their food in a Kosher way. it wouldn't be silly if you were muslim and you didn't want to eat cow.

it would be rather silly stating emphatically that you wouldn't eat there because they seem to support a religion that you disagree with (and as an atheist, supposedly should have no meaning for you anyway); especially when you claim that you are open-minded.

that's all.

I've never seen how such a comment supports one religion over another. Many religions worship essentially the same god, anyway.

Besides, the thrust of the clause is to protect the freedom of any religion to practice openly.

getting one's panties in a bunch over a few words on a dollar bill is a little petty and doesn't really serve one's cause, imo.

Bigot: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance.

when you're in high school, in-n-out is the only place that you can afford to buy a decent burger. ultimately, it grows on you and the memories created when dining there are what give it the cult like status imo. i love in-n-out for that reason, but i prefer fudruckers or even islands for chain burgers.

In-N-Out isn't bad, it's just not really that great. The fries are the worst part. I know that they made fresh, but they are not very good.

lololool..

Well, more like the Devil's "gift" to humanity. It's cheap, sinfully good, and not that healthy for you... but still ohhhhhh sooo goooooods.

Haven't you ever seen the bible quotes on the cups? That beef is straight from jesus' herd, slaughtered and cooked up for your holy enjoyment.

I'm pretty sure they do, but this was served out of a truck where they do not have fries. If I'm ever down in California then I'm gonna go in an actual restaurant and try the full meal deal.

Those bloody meat-eaters in the mass public are discovering that In-'N=Out Burger may be the best, and well it may be because the family pride behind it give impetus to deliver beyond expectations, as it well does every time,

BUT

those bloody meat eating TRUE locals here have sworn for decades that the ABSOLUTELY BEST burger on this Gaia Earth is at Jalama, at Point Conception where our California coast returns to a north/south orientation (it runs west/east from LA to Point Conception past paradise [Santa Barbara)

That's prounounced "Ha lama" for you non-mexican illegals

I don't need all that shit on my burger. If the burger needs more than the basics, it is some sort of a sandwich masquerading as a burger.

maybe you're right,

but those guys are right when it comes to famous rep.

Some people drive all the way out to Jalama from Santa Barbara just to get that burger. (1hr+ on cow & horse roads)

couldn't say myself as I don't partake
