My first experience with an American Muslim

I met her in 8th grade and for some reason me and my friends made fun of her. She was just one of those people who fell victim to mean 8th grader behavior. My first experience with a Muslim was where I victimized her, and she sat in silence and probably felt sorry for us.
Years later, right after high school I think, I met her again through a mutual friend. We became friends and started hanging out. We ended up making out actually and I appreciated that, because making out is awesome, right?
On the way home from the movies I asked her what religion she was because the topic came up somehow. She replied, "Muslim". That was the first time I found out she was Muslim and I didn't even know what a Muslim was, nor did I care. After all, this girl liked me and we were hooking up. Could anything else matter? Nah.

World peace bitches. That's how.

Not if she's hot enough. That is our most hallowed golden rule around here.

As individuals, Muslims can be outstanding people. As a collective, it's an awful religion.

Good part about being atheist/agnostic is that you can be any religion if the need arises. :)

Just curious, how old is she, how old are you? Do her parents know. I know many muslims and know them to be quite conservative on who they are "with".

Middle Eastern (therefore most likely Muslim, though not necessarily) girls are fricking hot. Soooo hot. Though I've found it kind of weird to see a Muslim girl in a store and she's wearing the cover over her head, but at the same time has a pair of skin tight jeans on. I thought that head cover was for modesty? Though I guess it's possible she's not really a believer and just does it for fashion, cause skin tight jeans certainly ain't "modest."

She's adhering to the letter of the law, while violating its spirit.

I had a Muslim Palestinian girlfriend in high school. Cousin of my (still) best friend. Smoking hot, beautiful face, light green eyes, sexy hair, body, total package. It was fun, but their family is all strict Muslim so other than a few of the younger family members, nobody could know. I didn't care. The whole family was, and still is, great... they just didn't want any "outsiders" banging their women.

I decided to leave into the service after high school, so we eventually lost contact. She's married to a Muslim dude now and is no longer allowed on social media, so I have no idea how she is. :(

I remember on a plane ride from China to Thailand I was on a plane filled with muslims. The one guy kept asking me what my religion was, and I told him I didn't follow a religion. Then he went to the bathroom and I thought he was going to take down the plane!

Scary days indeed. :(

I had a class with a Muslim kid a few times through middle school. I didn't really like him, but I didn't really like anybody then so take that for what it's worth. I do remember one teacher asking him if he minded her putting up a Christmas tree, and he said he didn't at all. I don't know whether he really didn't care, he didn't see that as a winnable argument, or it was some of both. Since then I've seen plenty of headscarf-wearing women around, but I've never gotten to know any of them (surprise!).

Have you ever considered that perhaps you represent everything that's wrong with our society?

Maybe it's the fact that when you hear anything about Muslims in American news it's all bad.

Plus, I haven't talked with and met many muslims. Maybe it is ignorance on my part, but there are other factors at work.

When I was in elementary school there was this Pakistani kid that joined our class. We all thought he was weird and made fun of him. This was early 90s so I don't think any of us knew what a Muslim was.

Yep. I haven't really known any Muslims and I've heard all the same crap as anyone else, but when I do see one it never crosses my mind that they might be about to explode.

For one thing, if that really happened all the time there wouldn't be very many Muslims around, would there? We'd also have sabotaged planes in the news every week or every month, not a handful of times per decade. Use your damn brain; there's nothing wrong with feeling irrational fears, but there is definitely something wrong with not crushing them when they're so obvious.

i didn't understand why all my Indian friends made fun of another Indian friend all the time. Until he missed school for a month. Turns out he was Pakistani and got malaria when he went back to visit. When he came back the Indians all made fun of what a crappy place he's from.

Lebanese girls are sooooo fucking hot.

Nobody would doubt you about that. Generally they're most beautiful people in the region (in the top 5 list worldwide?).
Lebanese people in general are highly effective, intelligent and mean business.
Did you hear about any Lebanese causing trouble in Europe \ US ? I doubt so.

Anyone in IT probably knows more than a couple Muslims.

The least traditional Muslim I know is a guy who was a founding member of one of Bangladesh's earliest heavy metal bands. And he drinks like a madman.
