Just curious, how old is she, how old are you? Do her parents know. I know many muslims and know them to be quite conservative on who they are "with".

I'm 35 now and married. This was a long time ago but just came to mind. With all the shit talking about Muslims and all, most of the time in my head I'm like, "Yeah! Fuck those guys!". But then I remembered just today and asked myself, "Dude, you forget about your fucking friend?"
So, the whole "Muslims suck" thing isn't really a "Muslims suck" thing at all. Its more like a clash of civilizations with some religious fundamentalism mixed in with a healthy dose of ignorance for good measure. Its a problem for sure, but can you honestly say its because these violent people are Muslim? Not a fucking chance. Not with Christianity's history behind us to learn from. Not with the things that people do to each other where Islam isn't involved at all. People do people things, and people fucking SUCK (unless they are a cute Muslim chick who wants to make out with you).
Or...wait. Insert dirty joke I guess. Whatever. Screw you guys. Especially Ruptga. RUPTGA!!!

Maybe it's the fact that when you hear anything about Muslims in American news it's all bad.

Perhaps you should try listening to different media sources if the ones you currently prefer are trying to convince you that x billion people are all the same?

You didn't really answer my question, but that's fine...

My father is from Pakistan. I have a middle eastern name. However, I'm not Muslim. I do however, identify with much of the discrimination that persons with middle eastern decent encounter. I'm just curious, because I know many Muslims are pretty tight when it comes to who they date etc... It's actually quite common to find arranged marriages. The father of the household may arrange his daughter with someone who they know is reliable and is of good "character".

She's not necessarily forced into the marriage, because she's been indoctrinated into the culture and "way of doing things" and it's not difficult to convince her she needs to marry this person.

Usually both families meet and they discuss their son and their daughter. The families become involved. Some indians do this as well, however they tend to be a little more liberal.

All of that bolded shit is terrifying. Sick fucks. That Muslim girl didn't pull any of that shit on me. We just had fun.

Yea, my experiences have been that my Muslim friends will order seafood or vegetarian if we go to lunch at places that do not have halal meat. Also, most of them do not drink, so we do not go out drinking together.

Had a co-worker that was from Iraq and had been there many times, even after 2003 to visit family.

She was (is) awesome. Swears like a drunken sailor, smokes weed, doesn't wear any head scarf, drives an awesome car, and loves gaming and sci-fi.

I met her family over the years as we became friends and apart from her youngest brother who was a bit of a douche, they were all great and easy going. Love the food as well.

Wow, these Muslims that you guys meet don't sound like true Muslims. I'm a Muslim, tend to follow the religion to the best of my ability. These people who you describe aren't following Islam the way the religion is meant to be followed.

You are saying my friend isn't Muslim? Why? Because she kissed me and spent time with me? If Christian's can snort blow and fuck each other in their man asses and still be a Christian, then why can't this Muslim girl kiss a godless heathen and still be a Muslim? I was Christian when she kissed me though, so I'm not sure which makes her less Muslim. Kissing a heathen, or kissing a misguided Abrahamic lemming.

Touching the other gender in general is a sin. If a Muslim went to the point of kissing the other gender, then I also doubt that they pray to God. Which is one of the most important aspects of Islam. I could be wrong, it's possible that she was ignorant on the topic as Muslim parents tend to not talk to their children about sex and what's a sin and not a sin when it comes to girls/boys. It's also possible, and I hope, that this girl changed her ways and became a better Muslim.

And that post wasn't specifically targeted to your friend, others have posted their experiences with Muslim girls, and it just doesn't sound like Muslim girls at all. Maybe you guys are confusing Arabic/Middle Eastern girls with Muslims.

This may come as a shock to you, but there are people that are very serious about following the same god, prophet, and tenets that you follow that don't understand everything to be the way that you do. To deny that is to commit the classic "No true Scotsman" fallacy. I hear it all the time over here, but usually it's along the lines of "I can't believe those people think they're Christians." Different song, same tune.

My first interaction with the Moozlem was a surgeon and some medical students we had from Pakistan or India. One of those fucked up countries, anyway.

What's not understand about what's written in the book that you believe in? If these people were really serious, they would try to read and understand the Quran. If they can't read, they can go to a mosque where the imam can help them follow the right path. These people are NOT really serious if they don't bother to do those things.

What I don't get is that Christians and Muslims follow the same freaking god, all they argue about is semantics. Apparently that's still enough for 1500 years of murdering each other.

Aint humans grand.

I know relatively little about the specifics of Islam, but that's exactly what Christian fundamentalists say; it could be a direct quote if you only changed Quran to Bible and imam to Preacher. What they insist on ignoring are the many cases where a clear rule is ridiculous, or where something important is unclear. I don't know that the Quran has those same problems, but given the shared heritage between the two religions... I think it is a safe bet.

It's not really about the gods, it's about the cultural systems that those gods apparently endorse.
