Pentium 4 2.4C

This is my first o/c with a pentium chip and I must say it's been a good experience so far.

It's amazing that you can acheive almost a 1 ghz o/c without raising the vcore a HUGE amount... with amd, you have raise the vcore almost .3 volts just to get a 1 ghz if you were lucky...

3.3 ghz (12 x 275) @ 1.55 volts or 1.5 actual according to hardware monitor ; load temps do not exceed 53C's

this is all on a Abit IC7

I have ram that craps out around 218 mhz so I'm currently using the 3:2 divider just to see how high I can get...

I plan on upgrading either to the ocz pc3500EL 2x256 dual channel kit of the geil pc3500 dragon 2x256 dual channel kit

2x?

you mean running 2 instances of it?

how would you run two instances of it?

but if you run two instances and assumming you have nothing else running, wont 1 instance of prime use up 50% of your cpu and the second instance of prime use up the other 50%

how is taht different than one instance of prime running at 100%?

your p4c has hyperthreading. ctl-alt-del and look at your CPU usage when running one instance. I'll bet you that both aren't showing 100%.

lol its funny u guys were talking about this, i left p95 to run all night last night and this morning i woke up, played battlefield 1942 and browsed the internet then read this, i looked at the cpu usage and i forgot to turn off prime 95 this morning lol. I love my ic7 and p4 2.4c overclocked to 3.0!!!

How does it feel compared to your 2.5ghz AMD rig? Do you like it better or was it not much of an "upgrade"?

yes the old 533 fsb and 400 fsb processors didn't have HT

but the new 800 fsb (or C) processors do have HT enabled at 2.4 , 2.6 and 2.8! :)

dammit shimm, i've been thinking about going back to intel for the last few weeks since the performance with the new chipsets are so great....and reading about your switch is making it so much more tempting. ;) i was fairly satisfied with my tbred @ 2.5ghz....

remember the price for performance factor. in most cases AMD still comes out on top. if you need the fastest in the land you will end up always chaseing rainbows
