<conspiracy> Microsoft is writing viruses to force you to use their web browser </conspiracy>
Be a rebel
It's free
-------------------
now for the helpful part of my post.
Apparently it's a program installed through several websites (funnyjunk, etc). Through my various searches on google, one way to get rid of it is to use the
Aurora uninstall program. Unfortunately for you, it only works (from what I've read) if you agree to install another program, from the same company that makes Aurora, that does the same thing. Some people report being fine after using it, others say it installed more crap on their system.
Use at your own risk
Alternately, you can use the simple method.
Eliminate the Aurora pop-up spyware:
Go to start/run and type CMD press ok
When it opens type CD and press return and then when you see the C: prompt type CD/WINDOWS press return
Type NAIL.EXE /FullRemove press return
Though reading further on through the various topics, it only seems temporary. :|
From what I've also read, WebRoot spysweeper only fixes the problem temporarily.
There's a guy over at the
HijackThis site that posted a file for removing it.
