It "can" be dormant, but doesn't necessarily mean that it has been for that long. I would want to make sure the statements are actually the truth before dismissing it, especially in this case where she's slept around a lot and marriage is on the line.

Btw, sic wil, how long have you been 'exclusive' with her?

And, for the general education of those here who haven't a clue:
There are many strains of HPV. Only some of the strains result in genital warts. Condoms will not protect you very well from HPV. And, some of the strains are implicated in cervical cancer (and other problems) - these are mostly from non-wart causing strains.
