My father worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay.

my dad hates this movie and refuses to watch it. I don't get it.

Cause 30 years of being on every channel, even during the xmas in july crap, gets a bit nauseating. I used to love the movie but I rage if I have to view it now.

he doesn't hate other christmas movies though, like It's A Wonderful Life, or White Christmas, or Christmas Vacation.

I love A Christmas Story. It perfectly sums up the holidays for every small town kid. Even though it takes place in the 40s, it's timeless. I do hate It's a Wonderful Life and refuse to watch it. It's so cheesy. Not James Stewart's best work.

My favourites
-A Christmas Story
-Scrooge (1951 with Alistair Sim)
-Mickey's Christmas Carole
-The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (the cartoon)
-The Rankin and Bass stop motion cartoons (Rudolf and Santa Claus)
-Elf (I hate Will Farrell but I do like this film)
-A Charlie Brown Christmas (missed it this year though)

Least favourite
-The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey film. I liked it at first but I hate it now)
-It's a Wonderful Life
-Christmas Vacation
-Frosty the Snowman and it's sequel

Its a major award!

Shucks, I wouldn't know that. It looks like a lamp.

What is a lamp, you nincompoop? It's a Major Award. I won it!

Damn, hell, you say won it?

Yeah, mind power, Swede; mind power.

During this season every year I now watch It's a Charlie Brown Kwanzaa, which wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for the wonderful internet. The part where Charlie threatens the hoes with Booger Hooking them all the way to Frisco really warms my heart.

I watch it once per Christmas. Seen it enough times I basically know it scene to scene.

I've never seen it. I did watch It's a Wonderful Life yesterday. Once a year, or maybe a bit less is good for that.

i was talking to my family last night about how that movie sucks. it has not aged well and i just find it pretty boring now a days. i'd much rather watch xmas vacation, elf, home alone, or a few other xmas movies.

There's a whole generation of people that movie relates to, and is a dead-on representation of Christmas life in that period. If you were born from the 1920's to as late as the 1970's, you will be familiar with a lot of the scenes in that movie from your own life.

The 80's and 90's kids have no clue what is going on and thing most of that stuff is made up. The reason the movie is funny is because THAT'S WHAT LIFE WAS ACTUALLY LIKE.

To say the movie hasn't aged well is not accurate at all. It's an ageless movie, but the generations that can fully appreciate it are dying off.

It's a good movie but totally played out. I'd much prefer TBS put Christmas Vacation on repeat, much more entertaining.
