I assisted in both my parents last days here. With mom it was years, I had the day shift.
At this point in his life, whoever cares for him, when he returns home has to become the parent. Be it a professinal care giver or family member. It is hard to do, I've done it.
To tell a parent, I'm in charge, these are the meds you have to take, this you must eat.
If he doesn't allready he should go for a decent walk everyday.

It tested my patience at first then I found humor in it.
