When I was 15 I had 20/20 vision. Once I reached 16 I started having trouble reading from overhead projector at school so I got glasses and only wore them a couple hours out of the day. I was at a -0.50 prescription at that time.

I later decided to get contacts and they retested my eyes and found that my eyesight had gotten worse so they increased the magnification to -0.75. Since I got contacts I usually left them in all day and after a while my eyesight got even worse.

I went back in and decided to get some new glasses at the time same time since my old ones did not help at all anymore and they had to up my prescription all the way to -1.75!

I'm now 19 and went to the eye doctor over Christmas break and got new glasses again because my old ones were not strong enough. This time they increased the prescription to -2.25. It's only been 4 months and I can tell that my eyesight has already gotten worse. I now have to squint to see small text, even with my new glasses. Every time I've gone in to have my eyes checked they have told me that it will eventually level off and not get any worse. However it continues to get worse! I can't even see the computer screen without my glasses now unless I sit no more than 1 ft away from it. At this rate I'll be completely blind by the time I'm 30!
Anyone else have this problem?

cliffs:

See an opthamologist not a $30 glasses hack.

Get screened by a doctor for diseases that can mess up vision like diabetes.

My optomitrist said most ppls eye sight gets worse at they get older but it should level off in the early 20's. Thats what has happened to me almost same #'s as you too. Now I'm 24 and it hasn't changed in the past 2 years. :)

I have a lot of the symptoms of diabetes but I've been tested before and it came back negative. I do have really high blood pressure though, but my mom who's an RN seems to think it's because of my kidney problems (they don't drain properly).

I am legally blind thanks to glasses. Every year I got newer and stronger glasses which made my eyes weaker.

My eye doctor told me that if you get your vision corrected to 20/20 your eyes will get weaker because they get lazy, so every year you need stronger glasses. I took his advice and got glasses that corrected to 20/50, which is what you need to pass the drivers license test and since then my eyes have not gotten any worse and that was 10 years ago. I wish I knew this sooner, my vision is 20/800 but hasnt gotten worse since I no longer wear glasses that correct to 20/20.

I had a friend that had to wear glasses, he didnt like them so he never wore them and his vision corrected back to 20/20. I wish I did what he did, I would probably have 20/20 vision instead of 20/800.

Do you do a lot of reading and computer work? My doctor told me that staring at anything within a arms reach away makes your far vision worse. His advice is to take breaks every few minutes and look at objects farther away to work your eyes.

Normal for my family. I'm 24, and I can't read the text on this screen until I'm less than a foot away. (21" screen at 1024x768 res)
My parents, both into their 50s, need stronger and stronger prescriptions as the years go by. My dad had some kind of laser surgery, but he needs glasses because his eyes kept getting worse. Just seems to happen for some people.
I think I got my first pair of glasses in first or second grade.

I had 20/20 until I was about 23. Since I joined the workforce, stress and sitting infront of a computer all day made my eyes far worse. I have to go get glasses soon...

Jee im glad i didnt get glasses yet, im 18 and my vision has been getting worse at long distance, but the thing is... some days (usually sunny days) i can see very clearly, other days everything gets blurred about 4 meters away and im like wtf? i have no ideia why it works like that, seriously, one day i can see some tiny letters on a paper 100 m away and the next day i cant see the face of a guy 5 m away lol weird stuff

I've had better than average vision for my entire life. In the last few months I feel like it has fallen down to just average. I figure if it keeps up like this I will need glasses or something in a couple years. Monday is my 44th birthday so I knew this above average vision wasn't going to last forever, heh.

You're only 19. It will level off eventually. And only -2.25. pfft. I'm -7.75 in both eyes. I can't hardly read a book without my glasses on or contacts in.

Folks tend to get more nearsighted in adolescence and young adulthood and then more farsighted in middle age.

Do see an opthomologist. High blood pressure can affect your vision.

I'm puzzled by the folks who tried to avoid glasses. I was in eigth grade when I got my first pair. It was like magic. Growing up I was always impressed by photographs as they made everything so sharp and clear in what was really a very fuzzy world.

I must be lucky. 29 and haven't needed glasses. Same for my dad until he was late 30's I think.

My hair though is also doomed some day.

It sounds like you're de-evolving.

Edit: Damn! Didn't notice this was a necro.
