<< Ok so I got me a yamaha dvd player and I says it can play cdr disks. I have a few movies on my hard drive that I can burn onto a cdr, but what format do I use ...? Anyone know of a guide for doing this?

First of all, are you sure your DVD player can play CD-R discs? Many DVD players can't play CD-R's even though they can play CD-RW's.
Frequently, unless stated otherwise, you can only play CD audio format. More and more players are supporting mp3's, wma and video CD's and these specifically says so. mp3 and wma's should be recorded in ISO9660. VideoCD should be recorded in VideoCD format, which I'm not really sure how to do it.
If your player can play CD-RW, play around with it, because you have nothing to lose. burn a few RW disc until you find the formatting that works well, then you can reersae the disc.
