Meh... I could find places I like better at a fraction of that price. Looks like a luxury hotel/convention center.

My dream house would be something like Falling Water or pretty much any other house by Frank Lloyd Wright.

My dream house: 2 bedrooms, small office, 1 1/2 baths, eat-in kitchen, 900 square feet, patio for cookouts and lounging, front porch with a couple chairs to watch the world go by. Ample storage, no yard.

This thread got me looking at lake front houses in my general region just for kicks, it's actually not too bad what is available. Go a bit further north and there are some lake front houses with decent size land for like under 200k. Though I think they are within city jurisdiction, my true dream would be to be outside of any city jurisdiction so I can have a bit more freedom in what I can do. Ex: build what I want etc. You probably pay more for such a property and they are much harder to find. (ex: typically not listed on realtor sites) But if I won the multi mil lotto, it's totally what I'd be searching for.

Have a 2000 ft house atm, there are probably some 800 Sq ft craftsman cottages that run more on the inter coastal I'd be happier in.

Wish I'd picked up one of those att, I do not want to live in a billion dollar sprawling mess.

At least I can pretty much do what ever I please where I am without being hassled, for the most part.

I don't think I could take the dusting.

You have 15 gardeners, so I'm betting you also have someone to do the dusting.

But, yeah, one of the biggest reasons I'd hate to have a large house is the cleaning. I suppose just about anything is OK if you can afford to have someone come in and do all your cleaning, do your yard and garden work, do your cooking, wash and wax your car collection. But I just couldn't see living like that. It's not for me.

My wife is out of state on vacation (my wife and sister took my mother on a vacation for her birthday). A couple of days ago, she sent me a couple of text messages about a house on a lake she wants us to look at. I haven't even looked at her links yet - my wife is out of town, *I'm* on vacation. :p (Not really though - I've worked my ass off the past few days, plus a day of babysitting.) But, I agree with you and a couple other posters - I'd much rather have lakefront on a nice quiet lake than that thing which looks to be on the edge of an urban jungle. If I had a billion to spend, 35 acres wouldn't even describe the private lake I'd own.

Another big thing for me is the jurisdiction/bureaucracy too, I'd want an area that has as little or none of it, and I can build what I want, do what I want, without nobody telling me what to do. If I want to put up a 500 foot tower or wind turbine, then I want to be able to do that. If I want to have camp fires all day or night, I want to be able to do that, if I want to add another building, etc...

Like, I'm happy with where I live, but I'd never be able to go fully off grid here, for example. The things that would be required to do that would either not fit on my property or simply not be allowed.

Water slides. Lots of water slides. I was a little underwhelmed by that house but a large part of the cost is probably in the land

I guess it was not understood that this mansion has beachfront on the Mediterranean Sea in Nice, France. Found a short video on youtube. Thirty seconds in you can see the butler who does the dusting. I think it is the mud room.

The value of the home has almost tripled in the last 8 years. Like the realtors say, the first 3 things you need to know about a home is location, location, location.

I'd want something on a bass fishing lake with thousands of acres of woods and enough room for a pool table, hot tub, and a harpsichord. :p

The video you posted a bit below is definitely not about this house.

I am aware this is Nice, but go on google "house prices nice france" brings me to rightmove, with absolutely amazing waterfront villas in Nice for "only" €6-€9M (yes, those are EUROS, and so is the €1B for the house in the OP). And each one of those villas impressed me a lot more than this.
€1B = 10x €100,000,000 is 100x €10,000,000

Saying, this is ridiculously overprized..and I mean at least €950M or so overprized.

As for the color that you like, this yellow is common all over the Mediterranean, here in Spain too, MOST homes have this color.

my dream house is one I can afford now. I want a place with a year round stream through it so I can play with water in my retirement. I love water features and running a pump to have one just spoils the whole thing.
