I know I have to go home in a little while, and I dread it so much. Normally when I got home I put all my things up and took him out to use the bathroom, and then go feed him. He was so sweet. Gosh, I'm crying again :(

I feel your pain, Fetts. We lost Raz (a schnauzer) late last year after a sudden illness. I still miss her :( Perhaps later in the year I'll start going to the Humane Society to find another dog. My neighbor got a Rat Terrier for Christmas that's the most ADORABLE thing....that's helping to ease the pain a bit.

I think everybody who accepts a pet as a valued member of the family and looks after them right can be proud and happy to look back on their relationship pets. a lot of other countries just use animals and abuse or neglect them. your dog got a good chance, a lot don't.

I'm really sorry to hear that, Fetts :(

My puppy is 10 now, she was just diagnosed with diabetes a couple days ago. But she is on insulin now, so hopefully she will get better and live another 5 happy years... :)

I'm sorry to hear that as well Fetts'.

I had to put Fatdog down on Memorial day. She was 16, deaf as a post and was going blind as well. She was in pain from cancer, and after all the happiness She brought into my life, I just couldn't let her suffer any longer. Not sure who cied harder, the Vet or I. Like your friend, She's in a far better place now.

Very sorry to hear that Fettsbabe. I am a vegetarian because of my love for animals. I feel your pain as I have also lost many pets.

HiveTyrant, its funny(not lkiterally!)that you bring that up. Last year I was walking my dogs, both on leashes . Well, they pulled me towards a tiny poodle which they smelled around the corner, and which I could not see until it was too late. Well, one of my dogs picked the poodle up by the neck and shook it just as HiveTyrants dog did(guess they always do that)until I managed to get it off of it and it was dead. It was my neighbors dog who lived in the apartment above mine and we both watched it happen right in fr4ont of us with nothing we could do about it.

She should have had her dog on a leash but I still felt very guity and kicked my dog very hard even after he had let go,and I appologized profusely. She told me it was her fault and that she knew her dog always tormented my dog knowing I would not let him get at it. Well this time it happened to fast. What a horrendous day that was.

Oh by the way,I never taught my dog to be viscious and this was an isolated incident which would not have happened had her dog been on a leash.

Like some others have said FettsBabe,a new dog won't replace your loss but it will help you to move on and raise a new best friend. Good luck,John-Paul

Our family dog died a few years ago. Dogs rule! I have a couple of cats now, but this is because they are lower maintenance...dogs are just absoluely awesome. I love going to people's places who have dogs; I'd rather play with the dog.

Our's was deteriorating from various illnesses and finally had to be put down. I'm glad I had a dog my entire time growing up and fettsbabe I'm sure yours went to doggie heaven.

all pets go to heaven... they are innocent creatures and do what they learn from their masters. i hear, when you go to heaven, that your pets are there to run into your arms and your friends and loved ones are there right behind em. i hope that is true. :)

Fettsbabe ... I'm so sorry to hear that your dog passed away. Its been 5 years since we had to put Nikki (my alaskan malamute) to sleep. It was July 4th. And was one of the worst days of my life. He had been my best friend since I was 12 years old. Luckily I am able to remember all the goos times now, and not have such a painful felling when I think about him. It was so bad that my dad couldn't even sign the paper to put him to sleep. My mom had to do it. My family walked around in a daze for months after that. We couldn't even talk about it.

I had a pet goldfish, and it drowned...
then I flushed it down the toilet and it kinda looked like it was swimming in circles :)

okay, wrong time for crude jokes.

you did the right thing :)

Sorry to hear of your lose :( I had a 16 year old Pomerainian that I grew up with. In the end I had to put him down because of a very serious back injury :( That was one of the saddest days in my life :(

Fetts, I am a big animal lover. I once had to put an animal to sleep because she was suffering. It was the hardest time in my life. Anyway, here is a poem I keep just for occasions such as this.

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world?s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest - and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

We had a dog hit on the road 2 years ago. She was only 3 years old. Someone hit her and just left her to die. I found her next to the road just as my wife and daughter came home from town. My 10 year old daughter and wife cared for her as I called the Vet to see what we could do. She died in their arms as I talk with the Vet. Our whole family was devistated. The pain and lonelyness will become bearable with time. If you love dogs, get another soon. It will not replace the one you lost, but you will soon make new memories with your new dog and memories of your old one will be pleasent ones.

Last night I called the animal rescue mission (BARK) and I was going to meet her on Saturday, but she insisted that I come last night. I did. We found a wonderful puppy who ran up to us. He is copper colored with a white spot on his head with a white spot on the nape of his neck as well as white paws. He's adorable. We bought him for $50 and we call him Copper. He's 6 weeks old. I helped a puppy find a home. Jody would have wanted me to do that since I saved him too. I buried my dog at 11pm, and it was so sad, but knowing that my house wasn't empty made it easier.

:)

If I see a dog walking down the road I take him and look for id tags and if they don't have them I advertise it in the paper. The last thing I want is to have a dog ran over by a cruel person. If I can't find the owner then I find him one. To bad all people don't love animals like we do.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, FettsBabe. All of us who have loved a pet know the pain you're feeling.

I'm so glad to hear that you and that puppy have rescued the other. Here's hoping that the two of you appreciate each other for many many years to come.

:( Sorry to hear about your dog. I know how it feels. My dog is my best friend, and I have lost others in the past.
