My dog died

My dog died today. He would've been seven years old next month. Apparently he escaped from our fenced backyard and was hit by a car and died instantly while I was at work. I came home and a neighbor informed me. I went and got his body and just buried him the backyard.

I'm so sad right now. He was my first dog, and he was a good friend. I feel like part of me just died.

RIP buddy.

Sorry to read this. I own 2 small dogs and would feel the same in your circonstances.

At least it was instantaneous. Not much worse in the world than to see your pet suffer. I've had a couple of pets get smacked by vehicles - one dragged on for a day.

I feel for you. Not much else to say except time will help...

looks just like my dog that was killed by a car when I was 12. I was unfortunate enough to watch it happen, though...

Sorry about your loss. I can empathize - my girlfriend's dog was hit and killed on Christmas Day two years ago. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry man. 🙁 I've got two doggies, one heinz57 who's about 7 and one chihuahua who's almost 2. I'd be crushed if I lost either of them. Your doggie sure was cute, too.

I feel for you
My girlfriend's dog died after a bout of Kidney Cancer last May

You'll be in my prayers

It takes courage to tell your story. We feel your pain because we've been there too.

Samuel Clemens, (Mark Twain), said:

If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where the dogs are.

You want to go to the OP's backyard? 😕

Our dogs teach us loyalty and unconditional love. If anything, they are closer to God than we are.

Fundamentalists are emphatic that dogs do not go to heaven. Just another reason they disgust me.

Reminds me of the story of the guy and his dog who both died suddenly. They awoke to find themselves walking on a path in the woods. They came to a clearing and there was a figure who looked like St. Peter at the heavenly gates. The guy and his dog approached. "St. Peter" patiently told the guy that, as this was heaven, he would have to leave his dog behind. The guy considered that, refused to leave his loyal hound behind, and they both resumed walking along the path.

After awhile, the two came upon a second clearing, where the real St. Peter welcomed them both into the real heaven. As they were going in, the guy asked who was the guy in the first clearing, then, and what was that placed.

St. Peter told him, "That was the devil, and he was at the gates of hell. He eagerly accepts anyone into hell who would abandon their dog, for that is where they belong."
