If you're talking about having well-done meat, I ain't having any of that garbage talk here.

No I'm just trying to get across the point that steaks are cooked differently than roasts.

With your roast the two big flat sides of you cuts are uncooked, with a steak they would also be charred.

Now theres nothing wrong with either way but I was just surprised that everyone was treating a steak and a roast the same.

No. It's not "uncooked", it is in fact cooked meat - had you bothered to read the thread you would even see the temp Howard cooked it to.

Seriously, educate yourself a bit, then try posting again.

Half of this forum wouldn't know a good meal if it slapped them in the face. Howard did an amazing job and those in the know can see that.

The rest of you, go back to your box mac'cheese, Doritos and Big Macs. :)

Yes, yes theres only one way to do things and woe betide anyone that questions it.

maybe it's just the angle, but that looks far too rare for me to eat. I usually prefer a medium rare.

I hate a nice dinner tonight  grilled cheese and bacon sandwich (pepper jack/cheddar on whole wheat bread with a bit of salt/pepper sprinkled on the buttered bread) with vegetable soup and some kind of pastry-pudding from the gourmet grocery store by my office.

I think his point might be that it didn't get a quick sear on the top and bottom?
Either way, a proper sear would have added flavor.

I think what he's trying to say is that what Howard is showing is a standing rib roast that was sliced into steaks. I think thats how most people do it though, aka prime rib that isn't seared but nice and red on both sides.

Semantics, but either way is fine and man, thats a nice looking hunk o' cow!

Yes it is a roast... as stated more than once.
But like a steak there is the option to sear it, which would add to its flavor.

Have you never had a cut from a roast that was finished that way?

I made sticky lemon chicken with champs and sauteed garlic green beans.

Made some hearty nachos for dinner, chips and shredded cheddar jack, lettuce, tomato, black olives, jalapenos on mine, sour cream, some salsa and/or taco sauce. Seasoned ground beef with some more cheese melted on. Nom nom nom.

But that looks pretty good. I usually go more for medium though.

I hereby declare Zeze the winner.

Nothing personal Howard.

Only if he hadn't eaten since last week. Posting last week restaurant dinner pic in a thread about tonight's dinner is automatic fail.

This. Eating at a restaurant last week to someone making dinner at home tonight, comparing apples to oranges. Heck, he has to ask how to make a hamburger.

How did you get it to stay up like that? It's like a pie chart.

Also, OP you're off to a good start. Keep shaving off and eating the done parts and throw the rest back in. That way you get to enjoy the tasty outside throughout.

Baked it about 2 hours before picture was taken. It's basically a ciabatta.

love ciabatta bread but youre supposed to dip it in olive oil and balsamic vinegar not cover it with butter, thats why it has holes

The chicken marinara panini I made the other day turned out really good... after tweaking it through 4 sammiches, and the experience of making dozens of other pasta dishes/other panini builds.

Lemon pepper roast chicken...
Basil, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil, salt, pepper for some basil pesto
marinara
artichokes, olives, mushrooms
sun dried tomato
sourdough bread drenched in olive oil(this makes the bread extra crisp and flavorful)
mozzarella
oregano seasoning
