I'm going to get manhandled for this, but I do not like BBQ sauce. I like barbecued things (smoked meats and the like), but not the sauce. I've only ever been to one BBQ restaurant in the twenty years I've lived here 😛

Yeah, I am really not all that unhappy. Plus, like I mentioned, this company rocks. I was very happy to be a part of it.

This is funny, though: My position just got listed under the new jobs section and a mass email went out stating its availability... in North Carolina. Humorous slap in the face.

ORLY? Excellent--We need jobs here in the Carolinas. :sneaky:

NC>FL&KS&MO

There are indeed shitty parts of FL, and some odd people. But as shitty as it is where you might be, you always have a beach nearby. consider that when you complain to someone that is surrounded by corn fields and fundies.
😀

(my pops lives in Jax, btw)

oh, and to me, Orlando is far shittier than a bug infested swamp. Such a plastic, gross place. D:

That is the problem with FL. If you do not like the beach, well, there is nothing else good about it. My gf is from FL (orlando area). After moving to MA, she said she never wants to move back to FL.

stop posting on ATOT?

Apply for position in NC -

Also apply like crazy for jobs in Florida - the fall back is the job in NC. Much closer to the GF and a paycheck.

Orlando used to be great until Disney invaded. Even after Disney it wasn't too bad until every other tourist attraction on the planet decided they needed to locate there as well. I just got back from 6 days in Cocoa Beach. I forgot just how much I loved that whole area back when I was stationed in Jax and used to spend weekends down there at a buddies place in Melbourne. I would move there in a hearbeat if I could find a job.

Just had a "Development Team Meeting" where my bosses bosses boss came and let my department know that they are moving the whole thing to Denver (from ~Kansas City). They are doing 1 on 1's with everyone this afternoon to discuss options. Good thing I have absolutely no attachment to Kansas.

Just wanted to vent slightly. Sorry.

/cue sad Snoopy music

Update:

Just got done with my 1 on 1. My position as a whole is being eliminated, so there is no option for me to move to Denver unless I apply for a completely new/different position. The move is happening roughly at the end of June 2011, so I have lots of time. This seems like a sign to move to Florida with my SO. I mean, I'm getting two months of severance and then a lump sum after that.

Should I be thinking of anything else?

Sorry to hear that man...having just recently become employed again after almost 6 months I definitely feel your pain.

How's the job market in Orlando?

Yeah, I love it here. I feel like any lover of water sports, fishing, or golf, would. If you get bored here, it is because you want to be. :hmm:

We lived in Fl for 5 years. Yeah, it is cheap to live, but the place sucks. Way too many old people, people in general are unfriendly, hicks everywhere, lot of non english speakers, very little to do, and hot as hell.

My parents like it though. It really does depend on age. We wanted to go back to civilization.

you don't deserve man-handling, as you prefer the proper way to enjoy BBQd meats.

get thee to eastern NC, where you will find your nirvana.

🙂

I used to live in Fayetteville for a brief time. NC is not better than anything 😛

DUDE, DUDE...NOOOOOO!

Fayet-Nam /= NC. please don't disparage the state over that shithole!

move into the actual triangle area. Surely your company has presence there?
