My daughter broke her arm.

Something interesting happened to us today while the family was outside playing and working in the yard. Cecilia and Her friends were swinging on our playset when my wife asked the girls to get off. While Cecilia's friend dismounted she refused. My wife asked her a second time to get of the swing and Cecilia released her grip on the swing and when swinging back fell forward on all fours. She yelled out in pain and my wife rushed to her aid. After a quick call to me at work my wife loaded up the kids in the van and headed for the hospital. Once there the doctors were able to determine Cecilia had broken her right wrist. They put a soft cast on it and gave her some pain medicine and referred us to another doctor to put a hard cast on today. Cecilia is in poor spirits right now but I sure with a little love and some rest she will be back to her normal sweet self.

Update:
My wife took Cecilia to the doctors yesterday for a follow up visit and they discovered the break isn't healing correctly. They have to reset the bone, which means they are breaking her arm again to set it. :( They said they down put her under before they do it so she shouldn?t feel much pain. I?ll let you all know next Wednesday how it went.

She did, that's why she fell. U should say "Maybe that will teach the little tyrant to disobey her parents' instructions." :D

Summer is coming so she'll have no problem at all except missing out some fun. But if you break any bone during winter, it'll be hell especially at night.

Another side, it used to be 1 doc do everything. Now, when you brake a bone.. Nurse to put on your bandage, Nurse to give U medicine, doctor to do this.. another doctor to do that.. another one to take X-ray....... Then after living through all that, the bill come to finish U off and make U wish to die.

Wow, that's almost exactly how I broke my arm when I was in 3rd grade... except I broke my left. I hope she doesn't have to have the cast past the elbow!

Casts are fun...sometimes.

I've spent a total of 6 months in cast for 3 fractures between the ages of 3 and 14.

I had one of my casts autographed by the crew of a 747 when we were flying somwhere, I thought that was cool.

True story wrist injury story:

When we were in 6th grade one of our friends was playing on monkey bars when he fell down and broke his wrist. So the next day, another friend is showing the rest of us how it happend, so he falls down and breaks his wrist too, exact same injury. So now I get on the monkey bars to show those two how not to break your arm. Guess what, I fell down too!!! Luckly I only sprained my wrist, needed to wear a soft cast for a couple of days. But if this isn't a best example of kid idiocy, I don't know what is.

Haha...thats so perfect. It would have been better if the teachers quarantined the monkey bars.

Only bone I ever broke was my wrist. I was sledind and my sled started to go without me so I put one foot out to stop it and my other foot slipped on a patch of ice and I landed backwards on my left wrist. Owwweeeee..

The Dr. starting to wonder why all the kids coming in with the same injury. LOL

so she was mouthing off and you broke her arm? nice one dad...


hahahah, depending on what she broke, it should heal pretty quickly... only took 3 weeks for my wrist to heal (broke the ends off both arm bones in my wrist)

If this happened today there're would've been a full blown investigation on why all the kids are hurting themselves on monkey bars. Fox 5 would've had a 10 minute expose on that and local politicians and activist groups would've gotten involved, pushing for state wide ban of monkey bars.
