Be Strong.

He needs you. Your family needs you.

I've been there.

Best of luck to you Scott. Try to keep your spirit up and be there with him.

If possible, take some solace in that Northwestern is a good hospital. I spent many months/years with a loved one there. Your dad should be getting good care.

:( hope you dad gets better.

My dad had hepatitis C... and was on the list supposedly for a liver transplant (UCLA Medical Center). Unfortunately, since his liver was almost all inflamed, the blood that flowed through the hepatic artery was being backed up and dialated. As a result, he suffered all types of things (fluid build up, weak, tired, couldn't eat too well, and eventually esophageal varices). After a while, he suffered upper GI bleeding and could not stop bleeding... :( *cries* I loved my dad too. I hope all goes well for your dad and your family. No one should ever suffer through these things... it's just so harsh and disconcerning to see such things happen to those you care for. This happened a year ago and I still think about my dad everyday to this day.

The worst thing is getting something when you don't even know how you got it in the first place. :( He was a humble man.

I just got home. My dad needed to rest, he is stable for now. How long is anyone's guess. We are desperately waiting on an organ donor to donate a liver for our dad. God bless him. Now how the hell am I supposed to study for my midterm on thursday!?!

We will be praying for your father and your family. I lost my dad last october to a 5 year illness. That was 2 1/2 weeks before my firstborn baby girl was born. I, as you, could never imagine life without my dad. He was always there, and always stronger than anything. It's not easy, that's for sure. Hopefully God has other things planned for him on this earth. I am, obviously, a God-believing individual. One thing I can say is that my dad had a far greater impact on people's lives when he was ill than I ever could have imagined. He gave people hope somehow through his struggles. We will be praying that your dad not only comes through strong... but lives to be old and gray to enjoy your kids as well. May God bless you and your family in this difficult time. :)
