Capable and selling well dispite your opinion FTW.

so is the H3...

your point?

Any Toyota 4x4 > H3

$0.02

you talking off road? because if you are H3 > FJ off road.

dont forget, interior materials, and what not, just the H3 doesnt have the right engine for itself.

are you serious?

H3 off road?

dont make me laugh.

isnt the H3 a big fat body on some crappy GM pickup/SUV chassis? either way toyota are very good at going off road, land rover pwns all of course, but the big toyota 4x4's like the land cruiser have traditionally been very capable off road

and interior materials? if my dads Rav4 is anything to go by... the interior should be of very very good quality, in materials and fit n finish.

of course with all the extra steps n stuff ours has on it, coupled with the already not very high ride height, the Rav4 really cant handle much more than a gravel drive way

H2's and H3's have major problems off road.

H2's/H3's the only use is for all those people who put giant spinners on them....and being very expensive to drive with gas prices

i said H3, and like Otispunkmeyer did, i suggest you do more homework.

My neighbor has had one for at least a month now. At least it matches the FJ40 he has (both are a rather bright shade of yellow).

Never even heard of this. Since it appears to be a more legitimately off-road Element competitor, I'm surprised it hasn't been advertised more. I like what little I see.

it competes with the X-terra, H3, Jeep (commander??).

It would seem kind of stupid NOT to position it against the Element - same door design, similar interior design, slightly bigger, oh and for about the same price you get real 4WD and a V6!

The H3 can be decent for offroading, its engine just blows donkeys (220HP 5CYL? rofl).

From edmunds.com:
However, the H3 redeems itself in other areas. It comes standard with a full-time four-wheel-drive system with a 2.64 reduction gear in 4 Lo. Pretty typical for a production SUV. However, there's an optional 4.03 transfer case that provides gearing so low you can creep down rocky slopes without using the brakes. The 4-to-1 transfer case is aimed at hard-core off-roaders who would ordinarily have to go to the aftermarket to get one. The H3 further bolsters its go-anywhere image with generous ground clearance, standard skid plates and optional 33-inch off-road tires.

We doubt many Grand Cherokee owners will give up Hemi power for an H3 with an inline five. But the otherwise well-rounded H3 is proof that Hummers clean up real good. If you're looking for a tough off-roader that seats five comfortably, the midsize Hummer H3 is worth a test-drive.

It also did rank in top 10 offroaders IIRC, I think it was a JD survey. I personally don't like the things but they're decent for offroading if you get those options.

Big? It's like 3/4 the length of the land cruiser. The mileage though isn't very good though for what it is.. like 19MPG in the city..

One of the 8 that were ever sold!

After seeing Goku's actual pictures, I like it even more.

Goku, take some pics of the interior, too!

I'll try to get around to taking pictures of the interior.. Personally I think the interior is fine, I don't really understand the complaining from people around here. For a person who sits in a $1000 reclining computer chair, I have to say the FJ drives and feels PLENTY comfortable. The car is only $20K MSRP and is actually designed to go off road so I don't understand the complaining really..

Congrats (to your dad).

Can't say why one would ever purchase that over a Rubicon, if that's the kind of vehicle you actually need. Obviously they're the new en-vogue 4x4 for people who don't really need them. Saw one parked in front of the Highland Park Larry North yesterday.

Did your dad actually pay near the MSRP? I heard these things are selling like crazy and dealers are asking over $30k.

Nope, didn't pay even close to MSRP, but the difference in looks between MSRP and the 'loaded' trucks in negligible. When you pay more, you don't get a different interior or anything like that..

Congrats on the purchase. I saw one of these the other day, and I still don't really like them...
