so is the H3...

your point?

Any Toyota 4x4 > H3

$0.02

you talking off road? because if you are H3 > FJ off road.

dont forget, interior materials, and what not, just the H3 doesnt have the right engine for itself.

are you serious?

H3 off road?

dont make me laugh.

isnt the H3 a big fat body on some crappy GM pickup/SUV chassis? either way toyota are very good at going off road, land rover pwns all of course, but the big toyota 4x4's like the land cruiser have traditionally been very capable off road

ill just let you know, you will be pwned if i feel like posting a link, or you can do your own research and post it yourself.

search for H3 on this board, and read the thread which compares the Xterra, H3, FJ, and Commander (i believe)

i wont be going off forum reviews thanks, ill have a look at something more reputable and get back to you

I saw one at the school parking lot a couple weeks back. I almost threw up on it.

It's cool that your dad is cool enough to buy one. I like it except it really is meant to be on offroading car which makes the inside kind of ghetto. I also don't like the plaid on the seats and the headlights need to be bigger and more square.

and interior materials? if my dads Rav4 is anything to go by... the interior should be of very very good quality, in materials and fit n finish.

of course with all the extra steps n stuff ours has on it, coupled with the already not very high ride height, the Rav4 really cant handle much more than a gravel drive way

LOL, the FJ is just some fat body on top of a Tacoma/4-Runner chassis :)

That being said, the FJ's interior is rather, shall we say...MEH! OTOH, the FJ starts about $6,000 cheaper.

Isn't the FJ's interior hose-able? Hard to have a fancy interior if it's able to be washed out so easily.. :p

The FJ isn't /that/ big, is it? I love my Tacoma...have absolutely no issues with the chassis, on or off road.. :p

Probably -- which is a good thing for offroading.

Toyota is using word of mouth advertising to sell this vehicle (ie - instead of having ads for it - they've dispatched vehicles for off road clubs to use, and test out, selling the car on it's merit rather than via traditional print).
I have heard advertisements for it on the radio.

yes the FJ is 4 inches shorter than the previous 4runner.

and MIKE

ill retract what i said, plenty of reviews citing the H3 as a capable off road machine indeed. only complaints are its underpowered engine, and that it weighs 560lbs more than the FJ without any notable reason too. they dont paint a nice picture of it on road mind, but off road it seemed to best the FJ, Xterra, and the jeep.

its only got a 3.5litre 5 cylinder engine.... i would of thought a V8 would be under the bonnet

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons...ff-road-4wd-toyota-fj-cruiser-4wd.html

need to click on the cars in the box

to toyotas credit though, it also did very well off road, much better than on the road.

Isuzu fvcked up royally when designing the Colorado/Canyon chasis and they havent been able to easily fit an I6 in there, V8 isnt necessary. hence the chasis was designed (no real reason why) for only an I-5. but rumors are abound about a Diesel powered H3.

diesel is a good choice for off roading. dont need the speed, just the grunt. and they like the water better than petrols

hummer doesnt sound like a nice on road drive mind, id imagine it feels abit squirmy on those massive tyres.

and i bet the H3 breaks down before the toyota :p.... toyota really do know how to make a reliable machine.

niice... although i'm not digging how the bright blue clashes with all the white, brushed aluminum and black trimmings. Probably would look better in black or silver.

H2's and H3's have major problems off road.

H2's/H3's the only use is for all those people who put giant spinners on them....and being very expensive to drive with gas prices
