Cliffs: Roommate is a douche. Adopts a kitten. Says he wants to kill it because it's cuter than he is. The kitten visited me for a day while I was preparing to move out. Later my roommate takes cat out for an hour and returns without it saying he 'lost it.' I'm very sad. 🙁
Long story below:
So I tell my roommate not to get a pet cat until after I move out and he gets one anyways from the shelter when I'm away on business. It's a loveable white kitten with black ears and striped tail but the first thing the roommate tells me is that he is not a 'cat' person. He went onto explain that the kitten was not obeying his commands and wouldn't let him hold it so he 'kicked it' and now the kitten is afraid of him. I wasn't there when it happened so I thought he was exaggerating and told him to use a spray bottle for disciplining.
A few days later, I see that he and his kitten are getting along so I thought that he was going to keep it. But then he asks me if its illegal to kill cats or if it was ok to just dump the kitten outside. I'm highly disturbed by this and asked what the problem was and he told me that he's jealous of the kitten since it's much cuter than himself. I basically told him to find another person to adopt it or to return it to the shelter which he agreed to do so. Fast forward to today.
I spent the whole day packing for my big move so I left my room open to move things. The kitten visited me and would inquisitively sniff each box. I shoo'd it away from my room so it wouldn't get hurt by my packed boxes but it would return each time to sit by my side as I worked. I had to close my room a couple times because the kitty would play on my laptop or jump into my boxes. I didn't want to get attached to it since I would be gone soon. I even filmed it with my camera as it was playing in my room. I went on packing and eventually my roommate returned and I saw him feeding it by hand. I asked if he had named the kitten and he told me no. I continued on packing my room and I heard my roommate going out.
I took a break from packing but the kitten was nowhere to be found. When my roommate returned an hour later, I asked if he had seen the kitten and he told me he took the kitten out to play and he 'lost it' since the kitten wouldn't come back to him. Words cannot express my anger and frustration with him but I am moving out tomorrow so I just had to vent this out... 🙁
So glad I won't have any roommates at my new place.
