Should I find a new provider so I won't have to put up with the bad reception/customer service/billing and everything else?

Depends what you thought about their service. If it was good and the prices were decent, go back to them. I'm partial to Cingular Wireless and their Nokia phones.

I demanded a better plan or told them I was switching. I got 650 anytime minutes, 5400 nights and weekend, weekends and nights start at 8, free wirless web. All for 34.95. Nowhere can you get a better plan than that.

If the reception in your area is ok, then go to www.sprintusers.com and check out the message boards. Read up on the retention plans.

Reader's Digest version: Call *2 and tell Clair you want to cancel. You will be forwarded to the Retention Dept. When they ask why you want to cancel, tell them you found a better plan at [insert other carrier here]. The Retention Dept will offer you butt loads of minutes for less than what you are paying now.

There was a thread here about it too. Maybe in the archives of the Hot Deals forum.

Rejoice!
Then go get a real phone and a real cell service from Nextel.
Nextel kicks ass.
Sprint sucks ass.

Yeah because you pay about 4 times as much for less than half the minutes. Only reason people like Nextel is you can have 2 way radio contact.

I'm in the same situation you are but I think I'm gonna switch plans to Verizon just because there is a huge difference in reception where I'm at.

Sprint PCS has insane retention plans, but if you can barely use the freaking phone anyway, your reception problem is not solved.

I would try Verizon and AT&T (TDMA, not GSM, their GSM system is still relatively immature) and see which works best for you. Before the free return period is over, return one of the phones and keep the other.

I have two Motorola phones. Shared plan:
1500 "regular" minutes 7am to 7pm.
Unlimited night and weekend minutes.
Web service.
600 minutes of radio time--if I am talking with wife on radio, it is only counted once.
I can call anywhere in my plan and have no ld fees.

I pay 78 bucks a month for this--almost no dropped calls, and crystal clear reception.

My (edit) SINGLEsprint phone cost me almost as much with half the features.

If you talk with a Nextel rep and say that "so and so's plan is offering me THIS" the rep will do whatever they can to match the plan.

I hate that Nextel two way radio feature. Why should the rest of the public suffer listening to your inane conversation? Not to mention it beeps like so loud everytime they send you a message. I work at a coffee shoppe and people are always in the caffe talking to whoever about random bullsh|t and the whole caffe has to listen to it.

Hold out for better. Tell them you have had dropped calls, etc but you want to stay as a customer if they can BEAT not MEET the competition. Compare them to the Verizon network(larger) the more anytime minutes of Voicestream, and the how all your friends have cingular and get more minutes too. Trust me it works.

could i do this?

amazon has the kyocera 1135 phone for $100 with an $100 amazon rebate
plus if u buy 2 phones u can get $150 from sprint pcs...so then i could buy the sanyo 6200 as the second

kyocera price after amazon rebate - free
sprit phone $200
sprint rebate $150

total $50

will this work?
